Anthony Joshua has been warned he must be switched on to avoid an embarrassing defeat by Jake Paul.

Joshua takes on Paul next Friday in a sanctioned heavyweight contest which has sparked controversy given the disparity in ability between the ex-world champion and the YouTuber. Joshua has not fought since he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois at Wembley 15 months ago.

He sees his meeting with Paul as a tune-up for a serious return to action in Saudi Arabia in February before a showdown with long-time rival Tyson Fury next September. Social media star Paul, meanwhile, has built a career by fighting ex-MMA stars and last year took on a 58-year-old Mike Tyson.

The boxing world expects Joshua to stop Paul within two rounds, but renowned trainer Robert Garcia, who coached Joshua for a spell, warned the Brit he must be focused. “I think he should knock the s*** out of Jake Paul but f***, in boxing you never know man … It’s not like something I’m making up,” he told ES News. “People have already questioned Anthony’s head, his mind. People have questioned that, but if it’s a solid Anthony, a confident Anthony, he’s got to knock the s**t out of [Jake Paul].”

Joshua will be trained by coaches from former undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk’s camp after deciding to leave trainer Ben Davison. And he said: “I was invited to train with Team Usyk. He’s one of the best in the world, and it’s not all down to him. It’s also down to the team that’s around him, so I’ve linked up with them and got a great insight into someone who has achieved so much. It’s been a great experience and it’s very challenging.”

Joshua, who was twice outpointed by Usyk in 2021 and 2022, also shrugged off criticism of the contest. “I don’t address people that are against me,” he added. “People say, ‘what do you feel about negative comments?’ Why am I worried about negative comments? I just focus on the people who believe in me and support me. I have nothing to say to those people.

“You’ve got to give credit to Jake and his team, they reached out to me and it was a great opportunity for me to fight. I wanted to take 12 months out of the game, I did that and then it was time to get back to work.

“I was planning on fighting anyway and I thought, ‘why not?’ It’s great, it’s massive, it’s colossal, it’s bringing big news. We’re bringing marketability together with ability, those two worlds collide.”

Lamont Roach may have given Gervonta Davis all he could handle, but ‘Tank’ doesn’t see anything special in the former junior lightweight champion.

Roach faced Isaac Cruz on Saturday in his first appearance since fighting Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) to a controversial draw on March 1 in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Initially, Davis agreed to an immediate rematch with Roach, before ultimately choosing to partake in an exhibition with Jake Paul. After more domestic violence allegations against Davis came to light, the Paul fight was scrapped.
At Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, Roach (25-1-3, 10 KOs) was knocked down and fought a close contest with Cruz, settling for his second majority draw of the year. In the aftermath of the fight, Davis gave some very brief thoughts on Roach.
“He’s a gatekeeper,” Davis said on his X account. “That’s it.”

Roach, 30, was forced to play catch-up against Cruz after touching the canvas in the third round. To his credit, he fought well in the pocket. Cruz, who lost a close decision to Davis in 2021, was deducted a point in the seventh after a kidney punch.

This may not be the last time Cruz (28-3-2, 18 KOs) and Roach see each other in the ring. At the post-fight presser, they sat side-by-side. Each man stated their case for why the scorecards should have been in their favor. Nevertheless, in the midst of those discussions, they both agreed to a prompt rematch.
That sequel, however, will take time after it was revealed Roach suffered a broken right hand in the fifth round.

Jake Paul’s Injuries go From Bad to Worse Ahead of Anthony Joshua Fight

Jake Paul continues to pick up injuries during his training camp and preparations for his upcoming heavyweight fight against the former two-time boxing world champion Anthony Joshua on the 19th of December at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. Netflix will air the event.

It is perhaps indicative of how grueling the sparring sessions he’s been taking part in, just to get ready for the punches that Joshua will be throwing his way.

Previously, Paul had been working with a lightweight called Shakur Stevenson, who is one of the most skillful fighters in the sport, when he was training for an exhibition alongside Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, who the internet sensation would have out-weighed by 60 to 70 pounds. But for Joshua, Paul brought in three heavyweights including American star Jared Anderson and AJ’s former protege Lawrence Okolie, among others.

And the impact of those sessions appears to be taking their toll.

Jake Paul’s Injuries go From Bad to Worse

It all started when Paul started sparring Okolie.

Speaking last month, Okolie told Boxing Social that he wanted to “work with Jake Paul” to get him ready for AJ. “I need to know what he sees that makes him think this is a good idea. I want him to feel what it’s like to be in there with a big, strong, world-class heavyweight before the day. I don’t want him to get hit with a jab, and it’s this whole, new sensation.”

More recent reports suggest Okolie did just that, and made Paul feel what it’s really like to share the ring with a big and strong heavyweight as the Brit apparently gave the American a black eye in training.

“I think Lawrence Okolie did that to me,” Paul said to the streamer Adin Ross, during a video in which bruising around his eye is clearly visible.

A Black Eye, Though, Isn’t Paul’s Only Injury

Jake Paul

Paul joined The Pat McAfee Show this week and host McAfee asked Paul about the state of his nose. Considering Paul’s response, it shows the black eye Okolie gave him wasn’t the only injury he’s suffered in this camp.

“Did you break your nose? Is this new? I’m seeing your nose,” McAfee said during the show.

“It’s getting more crooked, brother,” Paul said.

“Sparring the heavyweights, my nose has moved a couple millimeters in this camp. A guy by the name of Frank Sanchez definitely cracked it a little bit so it definitely has something in it. It’s bad. Look at that. I’m like Squidward, dog.”

It’s not all been bad news in camp, though. In an Instagram post in which he showcased his skills punching the heavy bag, Paul said: “Upset coming.” And the video shows noticeable improvements in his footwork, fluidity, and power, from when he first picked up the gloves five years ago.

Serena Williams sets social media alight with another cryptic tweet that could once again hint at her return

Serena Williams has reignited speculation about a potential return to the WTA Tour after posting yet another cryptic message on social media, a move that immediately sent tennis fans and commentators into overdrive.

The retired 23-time Grand Slam champion has made a habit of subtly teasing her followers, but this latest hint arrived just hours after Billie Jean King offered a bold public endorsement of her ability to compete again.

Serena Williams continues to tease at a return to tennis, just days...

READ: Serena Williams reveals a challenge bigger than the ones she face

Days after rumors floated around that she could return, Williams shared a brief but firm line on X, telling fans: “I’m NOT coming back. This wildfire is crazy.”

Yet, another cryptic post emerged, and now tennis fans don’t know what to think. She posted: “Feeling strongly about claiming my mojo back.”

Quite what she was referring to is anyone’s guess. But many could interpret that as getting back on the court, especially with her sister Venus returning at the age of 44.

A legend whose influence has never faded

Since stepping away following the 2022 US Open, Serena Williams has remained central to cultural and sporting discussions.

Throughout that time she has referenced her love of competition and admitted that part of her still misses the thrill of elite play.

The tennis world has been quick to react each time she hints at reconsidering retirement, and this moment was no different.

Her message followed comments from Billie Jean King, who insisted that Williams is still capable of challenging the top of the women’s game.

King’s support carries weight: the tennis icon has long argued that Serena’s physicality, serve, and competitive fire remain unparalleled, even in a landscape now dominated by players like Iga Swiatek.

Swiatek, who has spent much of the past two seasons at No. 1, has often described Serena as her greatest inspiration, an acknowledgment that only adds fuel to the debate about how Williams might fare in the modern field.

The hype surrounding a potential comeback has grown louder in recent months. Williams has remained deeply connected to tennis through commentary, youth-focused initiatives, and her close friendships on the tour.

Her cryptic messaging style-never too explicit, never fully dismissive-has become part of the ongoing narrative of what a comeback might look like.

Her supporters argue that the current WTA environment, with emerging contenders and fluctuating leadership at the top, could provide a perfect opening for another Williams run.

Others believe that her legacy is already untouchable, and any return would be driven purely by personal desire rather than unfinished business.

Does Serena have unfinished business?

At the heart of the speculation is a simple truth: few athletes in history have retired with as much perceived untapped potential.

Whether comparing her to past rivals or evaluating her potential impact against players like Amanda Anisimova or the ever-steady Swiatek, analysts routinely conclude that no one has duplicated the aura, power, or mental toughness that defined Williams at her peak.

And Serena knows it. Her occasional public hints seem carefully designed to maintain connection without committing to anything definitive. They keep her fans hopeful, the sport engaged, and the conversation alive.

For now, her latest message offers no promises and she is content with her family life as mother to her daughters Alexis Olympia and Adira River.

But if history has taught the tennis world anything, it is that a whisper from Serena Williams can shift the global conversation. Whether it leads to one more match remains to be seen, but the anticipation continues to build one tweet at a time.

Tiger Woods opens up on son on Charlie’s ‘very different’ college recruitment process

Tiger Woods has shared that his son Charlie’s college recruitment process is “very different” from his own experience as the 16-year-old gears up for the next phase of his golfing journey.

Charlie is currently a student at the Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, where he studies alongside fellow budding golfer Kai Trump. He is expected to graduate in 2027, but several colleges are already courting him, hoping to persuade him to join their program.

Kai Trump, whose mother Vanessa is Tiger’s girlfriend, recently committed to the University of Miami on a golf scholarship, following her grandfather Donald’s clear preference for her college selection.

Charlie enhances his profile

In addition to being the son of arguably the greatest golfer of all time, the young athlete also boosted his profile by aiding the Benjamin boys golf team in securing the Florida Class 1A State Championship in November. He shot a four-under 68 in the final round, clinching the program’s fifth state title.

Tiger Woods has opened up about what it has been like to observe and assist his son, Charlie, through his college recruitment process

His impressive individual performances this year have also earned him the No. 9 spot in the American Junior Golf Association rankings, reports the Irish Star.

However, Charlie is the only player currently in the Top 10 who has not yet committed to a university. According to his father, the situation isn’t as straightforward as it was when he was Charlie’s age, although the 15-time major champion confesses to finding the process enjoyable.

“It’s been very different, the recruiting process. Now you have cell phones. We didn’t have cell phones. We would have written letters that would show up in the mailbox. ‘Oh, my God, I got a letter,'” Woods said at his annual Hero World Challenge press conference in the Bahamas on Tuesday.

“It’s just very different how fast coaches can communicate with the family members and the player that they’re trying to recruit. It’s just a different world. Not saying it’s good or bad, it’s just different.

“It’s fun to be a part of the process with Charlie and go through it and see where the opportunities that he has created for himself by playing better, places that he could play, wants to play and ultimately we’ll decide where he wants to go play.”

Charlie has experienced a remarkable 2025, marked by his inaugural AJGA tournament victory, a tie for ninth at the Boys’ Junior PGA Championship, and notably, the high school state championship. He also mirrored his father’s achievement by securing a position on the Rolex Junior All-American First Team 35 years later.

Kai Trump

Kai Trump has refused to disclose whether or not she is a better golfer than her grandfather, Donald Trump

If he desires guidance from someone closer to his own age about his college choices, he could always consult fellow golf prodigy Trump, considering the 18 year old has already navigated the process herself. The U.S. President’s granddaughter announced her verbal pledge to the University of Miami back in August 2024, expressing gratitude to the 79 year old for giving her access to his nationwide network of golf courses, and he has continued to track her progress.

However, just last month, Trump officially became part of the Hurricanes golf roster, set to join the 2026 class next year. This came mere months after she reaffirmed her Miami commitment by starting her senior year of high school with a subtle tribute to the university.

The YouTube star has begun her final year at The Benjamin School and shared a celebratory social media post in August, featuring multiple images displaying the distinctive “U” logo and “20-U-26” emblazoned on her vehicle.

Tyson Fury tipped to accept new world title fight in comeback plan before Oleksandr Usyk pursuit

Spencer Oliver believes Tyson Fury could pursue a world title showdown with Fabio Wardley in the new year.

Fury is toying with the idea of a boxing comeback after retiring for the umpteenth time early this year, after back-to-back defeats against Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.

Fury has opened the door to a comeback on multiple occasions

JUST IN: Oleksandr Usyk Delivers Honest Verdict On Fabio Wardley As A Fi

Several options are understood to be on the table for the ‘Gypsy King’ if he does return in 2026 including a huge two-fight deal with bitter rival Anthony Joshua.

The Briton himself has suggested he is most open to a trilogy with Usyk, as he searches for redemption.

But if he does meet the Ukrainian, he would likely need a comeback fight to work away any ring rust after a year away from the ring.

And albeit ambitious, Oliver has proposed that Fury first takes on newly crowned WBO champion Fabio Wardley in a shot for the world title.

He said on the latest episode of talkBOXING: “I imagine his first opponent will be less of a calibre.

“Obviously he will be looking at Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua, but I think Fabio Wardley will be in that mix now.

“I think he will be looking at that, and after his win over Joseph Parker, it could be a route back to a world title very quickly.

“There would be a world title on the line, and he may see that as his easiest option.

“He can get that WBO title, get to Usyk again and then the undisputed titles are on the line again.

“But if he wants to fight Usyk, he could look at Wardley, it makes sense as he may want to take some bling into it.

“This could be a possibility, Tyson Fury may not even need an easier fight to get his confidence back.”

Could Fabio Wardley vs Tyson Fury actually happen?

Wardley, as revealed to talkSPORT, is now set to return in April after being crowned WBO world title holder.

The Ipswich native inherited the belt, with Usyk vacating the title and electing not to take him on.

A number of leading contenders are well ranked and could be in line including Queensberry stablemate Daniel Dubois.

Fury is not currently ranked in the top 15 of the division with the WBO, but could be considered as an entry should he declare he is now active again.

The Morecambe technician has been complimentary of Wardley in the past, but the pair haven’t openly revealed whether they’d be open to the clash.

Wardley’s promoter Frank Warren has suggested there are numerous options that could be explored.

He said: “We will see where we go. Fabio will be returning to the ring in April now, I am meeting up with him and his manager next week.

“We are going to get some lunch and decide what we are doing. There are plenty of options.”

Oleksandr Usyk Delivers Honest Verdict On Fabio Wardley As A Fighter

Oleksandr Usyk has decided not to face Fabio Wardley but has now given his views on the British fighter.

Usyk is history’s first-ever two-time undisputed heavyweight world champion in the four-belt era. On his way to picking up all four major belts, he has beaten Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois, all twice, with the most recent victory coming by KO in August over ‘DDD’.

Since then, he has been out of the ring and then decided to vacate the WBO belt rather than face his mandatory challenger Wardley, who got into that position with a KO win over Joseph Parker.

He was down on the cards by many people’s reckoning but pulled out a big KO in the late rounds, which saw him become the interim champion before being promoted to full champion when Usyk relinquished his strap.

Speaking to Boxing King Media, Usyk explained why he was not surprised when Wardley beat Parker.

“No, no, for me not surprised because I work with Wardley. I think he’s a good fighter and great guy. I respect this guy, because this guy does a lot of work with his body. Lots of training, I think he’s a great man.”

In 2026, Wardley will be looking to make his first defence of the belt, likely in the spring, with potential opponents named so far including the likes of Dubois, Joshua, Filip Hrgovic or Zhilei Zhang.

Usyk, meanwhile, has said he wants to fight on, with American former champion and fearsome puncher Deontay Wilder one possible opponent.

Jake Paul appears to have dismissed rumours that his fight with Anthony Joshua has been cancelled after ‘The Problem Child’ shared his prediction for the December 19 bout.

On Wednesday afternoon, it was suggested that the heavyweight contest between Paul and Joshua had been “cancelled” after the YouTuber-turned-boxer suffered an injury in sparring.

The story was relayed by former WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne, who opened up on what he’d “heard” amid rumours of a potential postponement.

“I’ve just heard somewhere that he was injured, that it’s not happening,” Stiverne told Gambleonline.ca.

“I don’t know. I just heard not long ago it was cancelled. I don’t know what’s going on. Lawrence Okolie gave him a black eye or something and from what I heard the fight is not happening after sparring sessions [with world ranked fighters].”

Stiverne, who holds a record of 25-6-1 and was the first fighter to go the distance with Deontay Wilder, added: “It might be a lie, or it might be true, but I don’t know. That’s what I was hearing and it wouldn’t surprise me.”

Jake Paul gives his prediction for Anthony Joshua fight

Shortly after Stiverne made the claim, a beaten-up Paul appeared to confirm that his bout against Joshua is still happening.

Speaking on Wednesday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show, the 28-year-old gave his prediction for the fight on December 19.

“I don’t think he can knock me out because he’s not going to be able to line up his shots properly to land the hard punch,” began Paul.

“I think it’s going to be a very tough fight for multiple rounds, but then, when I figure out his pacing, his style, his speed, his footwork, he’s going to get a little bit tired trying to chase me around, and then I’m going to set up the shot.

“I’m not going to say exactly what, but I see what it is, and I think it’ll end in the fifth or sixth round.”

Paul was pictured with a black eye this week after sparring British heavyweight contender and former cruiserweight champion Lawrence Okolie.

The YouTube personality, who has also welcomed heavyweights Jared Anderson and Frank Sanchez into his camp ahead of fight night, spoke about some of his sparring partners on Wednesday’s podcast.

“We definitely focused a lot more on the strength workouts and lifting heavier weights,” said Paul.

“I started to eat a bit more, but I didn’t want to bulk up too much. The speed is going to be the key here, but we brought in world champion heavyweight sparring partners, guys who are 270 pounds, 250 pounds.

“Sparring them has been insane,” he said. “I still got the remnants of taking a shot.”

Serena Williams reveals a challenge bigger than the ones she faced in her career

After retiring from professional tennis, Serena Williams put down her rackets and left the tournaments behind, but life hasn’t stopped presenting her with new challenges. In a recent TikTok video, the former tennis star offered a glimpse into her daily life, answering questions about beauty, habits, and motherhood, showing that challenges off the court can be even more demanding than any competition she ever faced.

One of the most revealing questions was: “Okay, what’s harder, winged eyeliner or getting your kids to eat veggies?” Serena answered honestly and with humor: “Getting my kids to eat veggies, for sure.” That simple moment perfectly summed up how, even though her days of intense matches are over, she now faces motherly challenges that require strategy, patience and endurance just like any professional match.

A challenge tougher than tennis

In the video, her youngest daughter, Adira River Ohanian, even hesitated to join the Q&A, highlighting the spontaneity and naturalness of the moment. Serena also shared little everyday anecdotes: offering snacks to calm tantrums, letting her daughters wear her heels if they ever ask, or dealing with broken nails. Each detail reflected how a champion’s discipline and humor translate into her family life, balancing demands with enjoyment.

Through this glimpse into her routine, Serena shows that life after tennis can be just as or even more demanding than any match she’s ever played. Her honesty and down-to-earth approach in sharing simple, real moments as a mother resonated with everyone, reminding us that behind the sports legend is also a mom facing daily challenges with the same determination that took her to the top.

Snitch blows the lid on Tiger Woods and Vanessa Trump… and reveals what is quietly going on behind closed doors that’ll devastate millions

Things are heating up between Tiger Woods and his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump – and the golf legend is depending on her to help him navigate the transition as his professional career winds down after a litany of injuries.
Woods’ career appears to be limping to a sad conclusion after he revealed he isn’t at all close to a return in the wake of lumbar disk replacement surgery two months ago – but off the course, things are far more positive with Vanessa.
Tiger Woods and Vanessa Trump are just over a year into their relationship, and a source close to the golfer revealed that they view each other as 'soulmates'

READ: Tiger Woods has a perfect opportunity to get one over on Phil Mickelson for one

‘She came into his life at just the right time,’ a source close to Woods told the Daily Mail. ‘She showed up as he was seriously considering what happens next in his career. She has added so much stability on the home front, and he gushes about her influence in his life.’
‘And it’s gotten really, really serious,’ the source continues. ‘It’s a much more mature relationship than anything he’s been in before, and he’s going into it with his eye on something long term. Ideally, for the rest of his life. Of everyone he’s dated since [his ex-wife] Elin, I’d say Vanessa is the closest thing to a soulmate he’s ever had.’
‘She’s going to be the one who’s with him during his transition away from the sport,’ the source adds. ‘Whenever he misses the competition, he can talk to her; she grounds him and is just there for him to bounce things off of. She’s a true partner in every sense of the word.’
Woods and Trump began dating in November 2024 after meeting at events at the $38,595-a-year Benjamin School, where both their children attended.
Vanessa, 47, married ex-husband Donald Trump Jr. in 2005 and divorced in 2018. They share five children: Kai, Donald III, Tristan, Spencer and Chloe. The divorce was relatively amicable, and both Donald Jr. and his father, President Donald Trump, have put their seals of approval on her relationship with Woods, Daily Mail can reveal.
Woods shares two kids – Sam Alexis and Charlie – with ex-wife Elin Nordegren, whom he married in 2004 and divorced in 2010 after a shocking sex scandal in which he publicly admitted to cheating on her with multiple women during their six-year marriage. Many of the women came forward with lurid tales of sexual activity.
Woods eventually attended in-person treatment for sex addiction. Nordegren filed for divorce and eventually received a settlement that insiders said was more than $100 million.
The golf legend was pictured last week wearing a religious bracelet on his left wrist, which Daily Mail can reveal is a Buddhist symbol – usually worn as a reminder of faith – that he has been seen in regularly since his infidelity was uncovered.
The ‘protection cord’, as it is often called, is usually blessed by a monk and signifies a spiritual connection or a pledge to change behavior. Woods has previously claimed he will wear it ‘forever’, seemingly as a reminder of his past misdemeanors.
But none of that matters to Vanessa Trump, who bonded with Woods over their children’s love of golf.
While the relationship began casually, it grew closer last spring, when the couple started being spotted at various events in the Palm Beach area.
Ten days after the Daily Mail exclusively broke the news that Woods was dating the President’s former daughter-in-law, the couple posted pictures on their Instagram account, confirming that they had become an item.

Alongside two pictures of the couple, Woods wrote: ‘Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together. At this time, we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.’
The Daily Mail can confirm that the couple now spends most of their time at Woods’ South Florida mansion, although Vanessa still maintains a more modest house just 20 minutes away.
‘She’s hardly ever there,’ says the Woods source. ‘She spends all her time with Tiger at his place.
‘They are functioning less like a casual couple, and more like two people who are in a very deep and intimate relationship. They talk about the future, and they see a future with each other. It’s for real, and it’s very serious.’
The relationship is growing more intimate as speculation grows about Woods’ next career steps – and the golfer doesn’t even know what his future holds.
Woods has suffered numerous injuries over the years, including serious leg fractures following a single-car rollover crash in February 2021 after his SUV veered off the road at high speed – 84 MPH in a 45 mph zone. Investigators found excessive speed and inability to navigate a curve as the causes of the crash.
Woods was extracted from the wreckage using the jaws of life. He underwent multiple grueling surgeries, significantly slowing down his career.
He suffered his latest setback in October when he underwent a disc replacement in his spine. The recovery has been brutal, and Woods himself acknowledges that he hoped he would heal quicker.
‘I just got cleared last week to chip and putt, so that’s good,’ he said at a press conference before the Hero World Challenge.
‘It’s been six weeks since my surgery. It’s been slow, and you can’t really do anything on a disc replacement. You’ve got to let it set.
‘Now we’ve got the ok to start cranking up a little bit in the gym, start strengthening and doing more of the rotational component I haven’t been able to do.’
Woods will turn 50 on December 30, making him officially eligible to compete on the PGA senior tour, though it remains unclear whether he is aiming for another run at the top level.
The 82-time PGA Tour winner joined the Golf Channel’s broadcast during the final round of the Hero World Challenge on Sunday.
During his appearance, he bantered with fellow professional-turned-commentator Kevin Kisner – and many viewers took to social media to say that he’s a natural on-camera.
It is likely that a TV career is next for the 49-year-old Woods, who would command a huge salary if he were to take a role with a broadcaster alongside a more casual on-course career.
Woods has not played competitively since the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon.
Once the dominant #1 player in the world – he has spent a record 683 weeks at the top of the chart – Woods has now fallen out of the top 2000 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
‘He’s known it’s not going to last forever,’ says the Woods source.
