Roy Jones Jr reveals what would bring Terence Crawford out of retirement

The retirement of any high-profile fighter comes with an asterisk attached — and Terence Crawford’s is no different.

Crawford bowed out of the sport last month and did so on his own terms, retiring undefeated as a three-weight undisputed champion. His spotless record places him alongside the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Joe Calzaghe and Rocky Marciano — fighters who left boxing with no official blemish on their ledgers.

His final appearance came at Allegiant Stadium last September, where Crawford overcame the challenge of super-middleweight king Canelo Alvarez. Even at 38, he looked every bit as sharp and authoritative as he had at any point in his career, leading many to believe there was still more left in the tank. However, in recent interviews, Crawford has insisted there was nothing left for him to achieve.

History suggests retirements in boxing are rarely final until Father Time delivers the decisive blow. A tempting offer, particularly one too lucrative to refuse, has been enough to lure many legends back through the ropes.

Few know that reality better than Roy Jones Jr. The former multi-weight champion unretired on several occasions during his own storied career and recently told the Clubhouse Boxing podcast what he believes could bring Crawford back.

“It’s hard to say because with what Turki [Alalshikh] pays people nowadays, if Turki offer him the right money, I’m sure he’ll come back.”

Turki Alalshikh and Riyadh Season have transformed boxing’s financial landscape, bringing the sport’s biggest fights to Saudi Arabia alongside eye-watering purses. Prizefighting, after all, remains exactly that — and Jones believes even the most resolute retiree would struggle to ignore the right proposal.

“It’s opportunity. If you still good, nobody ever beat you and you feel you can beat most of the people out there and he going to give you an astronomical amount of money to do it. Why would you leave that on the table?”

For now, Crawford insists his legacy is complete. But in a sport where opportunity and temptation often collide, the door may not be quite as closed as it seems.

Tyson Fury Issues Response After Concerning Fans With Physique In Training Video

Tyson Fury has addressed his physique after concerning fans in a training video ahead of his comeback.

Fury is set to resume his legendary boxing career in 2026 after retiring from the sport following his second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

Before Anthony Joshua was involved in a fatal car crash that killed two of his close friends, an all-British showdown was mooted – with Fury releasing footage of his preparations in Thailand ahead of his ring return.

The video shows the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ punching a heavy bag as he goes through his paces.

But people online were stunned by his shape.

Fury appeared to be carrying extra weight, having sat out the entirety of 2025.

After being mocked for his physique, the 37-year-old took to social media to defend his shape, claiming he has beaten ‘everybody with a fat belly’.

In a video shared on social media, Fury says: “I’ve had a few comments, I’m looking a bit hench, chubby, fat. Well, welcome to my world, never been any different.

“I beat everybody with a fat belly, never been any different. It’s never made any odds before, why should it make any odds today?”

Fury, who is weighing 20 stone, added: “I’m weighing about 20 stone at the moment. I’ll probably get down to about, under 19 maybe, for the comeback. Nice and loose and fast.

“I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve been away for a while, but I’m back now.

“I’ve had a year out and, if I box in the first quarter, it could be up to 16 months out the ring.

“So, it’s a long time for a man 37 years old, 38 this year. So, let’s see if I’ve still got it!”

When will Tyson Fury fight next?

As mentioned, Fury hasn’t fought since his championship bout against Usyk in December 2024.

But a fight in the first quarter of 2026 has been mooted.

Arslanbek Makhmudov, who beat Dave Allen in his last appearance, has been mentioned as a potential opponent to welcome Fury back to the sport.

Makhmudov won 18 professional fights in a row before being derailed by Agit Kabayel, who stopped him in their 2023 bout.

He suffered another defeat two fights later but has since registered back-to-back wins over Ricardo Brown and the aforementioned Allen.

Whoever Fury fights, it will serve as a tune-up before going into a potential showdown against Joshua or Usyk.

Eddie Hearn Provides Fresh Anthony Joshua Update as AJ Pays Tribute to Lost Friends

Eddie Hearn has provided boxing fans with an update on Anthony Joshua after he was involved in a fatal car crash that saw two of his friends lose their lives.

However, those quotes were later debunked, with a source telling the Daily Mail that the guy has no involvement in Joshua’s career.

Now, though, a man that DOES have a say in Joshua’s career has spoken out, and Hearn has provided a brief update on the situation, how AJ is doing, and what the next steps are.

Hearn said: “I think, to be honest, at this stage, it’s definitely a no comment from us. Just because of the respect to Anthony. Obviously with everything he’s been through with the tragic loss of Sina and Latz.

“At the moment, Anthony needs time. Time and privacy. There will be no conversations from us about a career, any moves, what’s next.

“This is a terrible tragedy and Anthony’s going to need his own time, physically and emotionally.

“And at the moment, there’s nothing to discuss or say. Let’s give him his time and pray for him and, of course, all the families involved in this terrible incident.”

Anthony Joshua’s Tragic Car Crash in Nigeria

anthony joshua

While out in Nigeria visiting family over the festive period, Anthony Joshua and his two friends were involved in a fatal car crash when the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and collided into a stationary lorry. The two friends sadly passed away at the scene, while AJ only suffered minor injuries.

In the days and weeks that have gone since, it’s emerged that the driver of the vehicle didn’t have a licence, and he has been charged on four counts, which could see him spend the rest of his life in prison if found guilty.

For Joshua, he’s since returned to the UK, but it’s clear that his focus and attention isn’t on boxing at the moment. After defeating Jake Paul in December, it was expected that he would fight again early 2026 before sharing the ring once and for all with Tyson Fury, with September being a possible month for the contest to take place.

However, as Hearn has rightfully said in his fresh statement, boxing has to take a backseat for now while AJ recovers physically and mentally from what happened in Nigeria.

Anthony Joshua Pays Tribute to Lost Friends

Following on from Hearn’s update on AJ, the heavyweight boxer himself has taken to Instagram to share a beautiful tribute to his two friends that lost their lives in the car crash.

Joshua wrote: “Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers. I didn’t even realise how special they are. I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men. 100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents. I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers.”

Charlie Woods impresses his father Tiger Woods after overcoming an unexpected problem

Charlie Woods faced a tense moment at the 62nd Junior Orange Bowl when his tee shot bounced off a tree root, nearly striking him in the face.

The crowd gasped, and Tiger Woods couldn’t hide his admiration.

The incident occurred on the 11th hole at Biltmore Golf Course. Charlie’s tee shot had gone far right, landing near a hard root.

Most players would play it safe, but he chose a bold line toward the green.

“Hell of a shot,” Tiger muttered after his son recovered. Charlie, undeterred, executed a precise wedge shot and sank a long putt for par, showing composure reminiscent of his father’s poise under pressure.

Despite the scare, Woods Jr. finished the first round with a two-over-par 73. He started strong with two birdies but later made bogeys on the seventh, eighth, and par-3 14th holes, leaving room to climb in the standings over the remaining rounds.

The Junior Orange Bowl features four rounds with no cut, giving Charlie three more opportunities to contend.

Currently ranked 13th on the Rolex AJGA list, he had a breakthrough 2025 season that included a tie for 9th at the Junior PGA Championship.

Last year, he also led The Benjamin School to the FHSAA Class 1A state title, firing a 4-under 68 in the final round. With that track record, expectations are high as he looks to add an Orange Bowl title to his achievements.

His father Tiger previously dominated the event. In 1991, young Woods won by 14 strokes, the largest margin in the tournament’s 62-year history.

He returned in later years but narrowly missed a second title to Zimbabwe’s Lewis Chitengwa.

Charlie faces stiff competition this year, including Cameron Kuchar, son of PNC Championship winner Matt Kuchar.

International talents such as Giovanni Daniele, who opened with a 62, and Nina Choe also pose strong challenges for the trophy.

Tiger Woods opens up on golf comeback after surgery

Woods, recovering from his seventh back surgery since 2014, is contemplating a return to competitive golf. His October procedure followed an earlier 2025 Achilles tendon surgery, further delaying his schedule.

Woods shared updates during a Hero World Challenge press conference, noting rotational exercises are being added to his rehab. He hopes to assess his readiness for both the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions events next year.

The 50-year-old also joked about playing 25 events across both tours, though admitted this was optimistic. At minimum, he expects to miss the start of the TGL season, potentially returning near the league’s second season in March.

“I just started this process,” Woods said. “A disc replacement takes time. It’s longer – it’s not as long as a fusion, thank God, but it’s going to take time.

“I’m just looking forward to just let me get back to playing again, let me do that and then I’ll kind of figure out what the schedule is going to be.”

Woods has not played since The Open Championship in July and only made one cut this season at The Masters. His competitive appearances have been limited, with a maximum of seven events per year since 2019.

Charlie’s performance, by contrast, highlights a new generation of Woods rising amid challenges. Tiger’s pride is evident as his son navigates high-pressure situations with confidence and skill, a potential sign of greatness ahead.

Tiger Woods triumphed in golf, and for many, he is already considered the greatest of all time in the sport.

Although he was a giant among giants, Woods is also widely known as a womanizer who enjoys surrounding himself with female company and living life intensely beyond the fairways and greens that defined his legendary career.

It is worth remembering that he was unfaithful to his then-wife, Elin Nordegren, back in the now distant year of 2009. The scandal that erupted at the time was enormous and dominated headlines around the world. Tiger was caught while being involved with another woman, an episode that marked a dramatic turning point in his personal life.

At that moment, the couple had been married for five years, and several extramarital relationships were uncovered involving the golfer. However, the woman who perhaps became the most well-known, or at least the one about whom the most was said publicly, was Rachel Uchitel, whose name became inseparable from the controversy that surrounded Woods during that turbulent period.

Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren reached an agreement regarding custody of their children

After all the scandals that followed Woods’ infidelities, the couple decided to reach a solid agreement to maintain peaceful custody of their children. They divorced, but remained, if it can be described that way, on relatively good terms, prioritizing stability for their family above lingering resentment.

Both even live very close to one another. The golfer resides on Jupiter Island, Florida, while Nordegren lives in Seminole Landing. In the end, their children are the priority, and that has kept them geographically close and connected despite the dissolution of their marriage.

And although the wounds have most likely healed for Woods’ former wife, it may still have caused a certain sting to learn that one of her ex-husband’s former lovers, Rachel Uchitel, got married just 30 minutes away from where Nordegren lives and only an hour from the residence of the golf GOAT.

Rachel Uchitel got married in an iconic place for Tiger Woods

This detail comes into focus because Woods’ former mistress got married one week ago at The Breakers, the same venue where the golfer also celebrated his 50th birthday just a few days ago, adding an unexpected layer of coincidence to the story.

In a post she shared on her Instagram account, Uchitel uploaded a video in which she appears with her now husband and added the following text.

My favorite place. My favorite people. Wedding weekend officially loading. Still feels like a dream. Let the festivities begin!

Tiger Woods also celebrated his 50th birthday at The Breakers

The greatest golfer of all time turned 50 this past December 30 and decided to celebrate grandly with 300 guests. According to a report published this past Wednesday, January 7, by Front Office Sports, he did so at the very same location where his former mistress recently got married.

Everything seems to suggest that Woods’ romantic destiny follows him wherever he goes, this time intertwining the celebration of his milestone birthday with the wedding of a woman with whom he surely shared significant moments. However, this story may not be perceived in the same way by his former wife.

Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Claps Back at Critics Accusing Her of Skin Bleaching

Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian just aced this comeback.

The Reddit cofounder, 42, recently addressed online trolls accusing his wife of bleaching her skin.

The tennis icon shared family photos from sister Venus Williams’ wedding on social media Jan. 6, showing Alexis standing next to his favorite ladies: Serena in a white gown and daughters Olympia, 8, and Adira, 2, in matching blue dresses.

The legendary athlete captioned the social media photos, “Joy does not always roar sometimes it whispers. It important to savor those sweet moments… I love this picture so I wanted to share it with you.”

However, some online users speculated that Serena had used products to lighten her skin tone. In response to negative comments about her appearance, Alexis quickly came to her defense, writing alongside her X post, “Where are all the comments from idiots who don’t understand how photography lighting works.”

And when one user claimed, “Alexis wants Black people to believe we don’t know what photography lighting looks like vs blatant skin lightening,” he wrote back, “Or: photos from the same event can look different based on lighting.”

Serena has previously denied accusations of skin bleaching.

During an Instagram Live in December 2024, the 23-time Grand Slam champion addressed claims that she purposely altered her complexion after she shared a video of herself at a school event with Alexis and their two daughters.

Weighing in on the topic, Serena told viewers on the Live, “No, for you haters out there, I do not bleach my skin.”

She went on to explain that she was volunteering at her daughter’s play in the viral video and was wearing “stage makeup” when she recorded the clip in November 2024.

“Everyone’s like, ‘Ooh, she bleached her skin,’” she said. “I’m a dark, Black woman, and I love who I am, and I love how I look.”

Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez has issued a positive update ahead of his return to the ring.

The 35-year-old from Guadalajara has been out of action since he suffered a shock defeat to Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford back in September, surrendering his undisputed super-middleweight championship in the process.

Alvarez was the favourite heading into the bout, with many experts feeling his size would be too much for Crawford to handle, but instead ‘Bud’ was able to claim the unanimous decision win.

JUST IN: What Anthony Joshua Said On Emotional FaceTime Call After Fatal Crash

Canelo underwent surgery on an injury that he sustained to his elbow following his monumental showdown with Crawford, leaving the four-division world champion out of action for a considerable amount of time.

Whilst it had been speculated that the Mexican great was considering announcing his retirement from boxing, it has been reported that he will make a return to the sport this year as he sets his sights on becoming a world champion once again.

In footage shared by Fight Hub TV, Canelo can be seen shadow boxing and looks to be on track to make his comeback as planned, although an official fight date and opponent is yet to be confirmed.

Canelo was recently ordered to face Osleys Iglesias for the vacant IBF super-middleweight title next, but the Mexican star turned this opportunity down as he will not be ready to face the unbeaten Cuban.

Reports have suggested that Canelo will be ready to make a return to the ring around the date of the Mexican Independence Day in September, with further details expected to be revealed in due course.

Anthony Joshua had an emotional FaceTime session with former UFC champion Kamaru Usman following the tragic loss of his two close friends in a car crash.

While back in Nigeria to celebrate the New Year, Joshua was involved in a car crash in Makun, Ogun State, on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway when a Lexus Jeep collided with a stationary truck by the side of the road.

Joshua was a passenger in the backseat and images emerged of him sat in the vehicle surrounded by smashed glass. He was taken to hospital to recover from minor injuries but it was reported that two adult males had lost their lives in the tragic accident.

Authorities later confirmed the deceased to be Kevin Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, both 36 and long-time members of Joshua’s team.

They had helped prepare Joshua for his most recent fight, where he knocked out Jake Paul in the sixth round.

Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua back in the UK and on Sunday, he posted a picture on Instagram where he is sat on a sofa with four other people – with one holding a framed photo of the late Sina.

The 36-year-old had understandably been relatively quiet online while grieving until he put out a tribute to his late friends on his official channels, thanking fans “for all the love and care you have shown my brothers” and admitting he “didn’t even realise how special they are”.

Joshua had a conversation with Nigerian-born Usman and it was controversially included in part of his behind the scenes vlog at an AKO MMA event in Lagos.

In the FaceTime, a bandage-wearing Joshua could be heard telling Usman, “Obviously, two of my close friends passed away. It still hasn’t sunk in. It still hasn’t hit me yet”.

Usman replied: “You scared the world. It’s crazy because, obviously, we deal with the haters and all the bulls**** each and every time.

“It sucks that it takes something serious like this to really see how many people have their eyes on you.”

Joshua then said, “Life is short, man. And now look, I get to speak with you for the first time.”

Usman issued apology for Joshua leak

The private conversation being included in Usman’s vlog caused a huge stir and led to him taking it down amid the backlash.

However, he felt the need to issue a statement explaining the oversight and accepting “full responsibility”.

“After seeing what’s being written it’s quite heartbreaking,” the former welterweight champion wrote on X.

“Being on camera that whole day in preparation for The AKO show, it completely slipped my mind that my conversation was recorded. I realised after and asked about it. I take full responsibility for not properly watching the video that was released and keeping my private conversation with my brother AJ private.

“SMH big L on me. That’s not something I would ever do to a friend/ brother.”

The driver, Adeniyi Kayode, 47, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving and driving without a valid licence.

He denies all the charges and as per his lawyers, claims that the brakes “did not work” and that it was an “accident”.

Grief-stricken Anthony Joshua has paid a heartfelt tribute to his two close friends who were sadly killed in a devastating car crash last week. British boxer Joshua was passenger in the Lexus SUV that collided with a stationary truck on a major expressway near Lagos, Nigeria.

The impact resulted in the deaths of two of Joshua’s close friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele. Their funerals took place on Sunday at a mosque in London.

Joshua broke his silence on social media that day and has now shared another tribute on Instagram. “Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers,” he wrote.

“I didn’t even realise how special they are. I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men.

“100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents. I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers.”

Joshua’s post comes after his promoter, Eddie Hearn, gave an update on his future in boxing. It’d been claimed that the 36-year-old was planning to retire, but Mirror Fighting understands that no decision has been made.

A potential fight with fellow British heavyweight Tyson Fury has been speculated, but Hearn wouldn’t commit to anything and wants give Joshua ‘time’ to grieve. “I think to be honest at this stage, it’s definitely a no comment from us. Just because of the respect to Anthony,” the promoter told talkSPORT on Thursday.

“Obviously with everything he’s been through with the tragic loss of Sina and Latz. At the moment, Anthony needs time. Time and privacy. There will be no conversations from us about a career, any moves, what’s next.

“This is a terrible tragedy and Anthony’s going to need his own time, physically and emotionally. And at the moment, there’s nothing to discuss or say. Let’s give him his time and pray for him and of course all the families involved in this terrible incident.”

It was Joshua’s uncle who initially claimed that the fighter was going to hang up his gloves following the tragedy, having recently beaten YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Miami.

Adedamola Joshua told The Punch in Nigeria: “The major thing there is that he has retired from boxing. That is one thing that makes us glad because each time he’s fighting in the ring, we are always carried away emotionally.”

Joshua, who has family roots in the town of Sagamu, had been in Nigeria over the festive period. A family member said that the former world heavyweight champion was on his way to visit relatives to celebrate New Year when the crash took place. Last Friday, the driver of the SUV, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, was charged at Sagamu Magistrates’ Court.

  1. The Incident: Anthony Joshua was involved in a fatal road collision on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Nigeria on December 29, 2025. His Lexus SUV struck a stationary vehicle while he was travelling to visit relatives for the New Year, an accident police suspect was caused by a “tyre burst due to excessive speed.”
  2. The Victims: The crash tragically claimed the lives of Joshua’s close friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele. These men were described by associates as “more than colleagues—they were family,” having served respectively as Joshua’s strength coach and personal trainer.
  3. A Narrow Escape: Joshua reportedly cheated death by moving from the front passenger seat to the back of the vehicle just minutes before the impact. He was asked to switch seats because his “large physique was obstructing the view of the vehicle’s wing mirror,” a move that likely saved his life.
  4. Personal Tributes: Upon his return to the United Kingdom, Joshua shared a poignant social media post captioned “My Brother’s Keeper” featuring photographs of himself supporting the grieving families. He admitted to friends that the reality of the loss “still hasn’t sunk in” and that the gravity of the situation “still hasn’t hit me yet.”
  5. Fallen “Brothers”: In response to the horrific accident, Joshua said: “Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers,” he wrote. I didn’t even realise how special they are. 7. Future in Boxing: In the aftermath, Joshua’s uncle, Adedamola Joshua, claimed the fighter has “retired from boxing” to spare his family from further emotional trauma. While promoters acknowledge that “boxing will certainly be the last thing on his mind,” the former champion has yet to make a formal public announcement regarding his retirement.
  8. Legal Consequences: The driver of the vehicle, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with four counts, including dangerous driving causing death and operating without a valid license. A police spokesperson confirmed the driver was granted bail but “remanded pending when he meets his bail condition” at a Nigerian magistrate’s court.
  9. The Funeral Service: Thousands of mourners, including Joshua, gathered at the London Central Mosque on January 4, 2026, for the Islamic Janaza funeral prayers. The service honoured the two men who “played significant roles in Joshua’s career” before they were laid to rest at Hendon Cemetery.
