Doral, Florida’s Local 10 reports that WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis was arrested this morning after allegedly battering the mother of two of his children last month.

Police said Davis went to the victim’s home to pick up their children for Father’s Day, but a verbal altercation between him and the victim ensued, which escalated to a physical altercation.

According to the report, Davis told his ex-girlfriend to remove their children from his car as he no longer intended to take them, but when she leaned forward to retrieve their daughter from the backseat, Davis struck her in the back of the head and then slapped her in the face, causing a minor cut to the inner area of her lip.

Police said the victim then sent a text message to her mother, informing her that Davis was assaulting her and asking her to come outside.

The victim’s mother then exited the residence and saw her daughter visibly distressed and crying while arguing with Davis, the report stated.

According to the report, the victim’s mother filmed part of the altercation on her cellphone, which showed Davis throwing a small box at the victim.

Davis (30-0-1, 28 KO) has spent nearly a decade in trouble with the law for various reasons, most notably pleading guilty to a 2022 hit-and-run that left a pregnant woman injured and subsequently violating the terms of his house arrest. This marks his third arrest for allegedly assaulting a woman.

It is long past time to cut bait on this guy. Years of facing no consequences for his actions have made him a consistent and unrepentant danger to others. Scrap the Roach rematch and enforce some accountability for once.

This latest development on the personal life of Davis throws into doubt his boxing future, which was set to continue with a rematch against Roach after their controversial first meeting in March of this year.

Rory McIlroy has settled into his new Wentworth mansion following a fortnight’s break from competitive golf, revealing how the move from Florida has provided welcome detachment from the sport’s relentless schedule.

The four-time major winner returned to England several weeks ago after finishing sixth at the Travelers Championship, taking up residence in the Surrey estate he and wife Erica Stoll have been developing.

“We came back a few weeks ago and moved into our new home in Wentworth and been since trying to settle in and it’s amazing what two weeks of a bit of detachment can do for you, and sitting there being with your own thoughts for a while,” McIlroy told the Telegraph.

The move to Wentworth was particularly championed by Stoll, who was keen to leave behind Florida’s intense heat for the cooler English climate.

The couple had announced their separation last year but reconciled after a month.

McIlroy reportedly purchased the sprawling estate in 2023, investing up to £9 million in developing the family home.

Planning documents describe it as a “large, detached dwelling sited centrally within a substantive plot”.

The property features extensive luxury amenities, including an outdoor swimming pool with a recently approved heat pump system. McIlroy also secured planning permission for a dining and utility room extension, a new roof, internal alterations, a play centre and a 5ft-high water feature wall.

“Yeah, it’s been nice to have this time to reflect and also to rekindle my excitement and enthusiasm for the rest of the year,” McIlroy added.

The Northern Irishman, sporting a fresh haircut, is preparing for this week’s Scottish Open at North Berwick before heading to Royal Portrush for the Open Championship.

“Obviously we have this week in Scotland and then a massive week next week in Portrush,” he said.

McIlroy explained how the geographical distance has helped him gain perspective on the demanding tour schedule.

“There’s a detachment from the sort of week-in, week-out grind when you get back over here,” he noted, adding that fellow Wentworth resident Justin Rose shared similar sentiments.

The couple’s previous Florida residence in Jupiter, purchased from Ernie Els in 2017 for £16.5 million, sits on 2.4 acres and features nine bedrooms, ten bathrooms, an infinity pool, games room, tennis court, home theatre, recording studio and gym.

Wentworth Estate has housed numerous high-profile residents, including Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, who received a property from Queen Elizabeth following their marriage.

The late Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky and Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet also owned homes there.

“You play PGA Tour golf for the first 25, 30 weeks of the year and you need to completely get away from it – because this world of golf can become all-encompassing,” McIlroy reflected.

“In this last fortnight, I felt like I could detach and sort of hide in a way. I needed that. My game needed that.”

Andy Ruiz Jr has slimmed down significantly in preparation for a return to the ring.

The Mexican-American puncher hasn’t boxed since last August when he was held to a disputed majority draw by Jarrell Miller in Los Angeles.

However, he is now training and dieting again.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Ruiz Jr posted a picture of some food prep, with the caption: “Gotta start now and only eat protein for 3 weeks.

‘The Destroyer’ then followed up his post with a shirtless snap, devoid of his famous gut.

“Slow but surely,” he wrote underneath. “Work in progress…”

Ruiz Jr usually operates between 255lbs and 265lbs, but for his last bout with Miller, he came in at 274lbs – his second heaviest weight to date.

The 35-year-old looked sluggish and was fortunate to scrape a draw.

Yet judging from recent pictures, he looks to be boiling down to his ideal fight weight as he starts the arduous climb back to the top.

Ruiz Jr tipped the scales at 268lbs when he stunned the boxing world by snatching the unified WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles from Anthony Joshua in June 2019.

The heavy underdog stepped in on five weeks’ notice to replace Miller after the American failed a trio of drug tests and dropped AJ three times en route to a shocking seventh-round knockout win.

A rematch was then booked for December, and while Joshua took himself away from all of the external distractions and left no stone unturned in training, Ruiz Jr’s camp was less than ideal.

Ruiz Jr admits he spent three months partying and celebrating his career-best win, leading to 15lbs of weight gain.

The stocky boxer came in at a whopping 283.5lbs for their sequel and laboured to a wide unanimous decision loss.

“I don’t want to say the three months of partying or celebrating didn’t affect me, as to tell you the truth, it kind of did,” Ruiz said in the immediate aftermath.

“There’s no excuses. The partying got the best of me. The next fight is going to be a lot different.”

Ruiz Jr never got his trilogy bout with Joshua, despite his best efforts, while his career has stagnated since their second meeting.

The former heavyweight world champion has only fought three times in the last six years: a pair of wins over Chris Arreola and Luis Ortiz and the aforementioned draw with Miller.

Their new place is in the fancy Wentworth Estate, close to the famous Wentworth Golf Club and home to housed royals and billionaires, like Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

Stoll, from upstate New York, was tired of Florida’s big heat and pushed for the move to England. McIlroy, living in Jupiter, Florida, for years, said yes to the shift after the U.S. Open in June.
