Canelo’s Legacy Would Be ‘Massively’ Tarnished By Crawford Loss, Says Algier

Chris Algieri believes that a loss for Canelo Alvarez against Terence Crawford will “tarnish his legacy” for good. He will have lost to a former lightweight champion, who is moving up two divisions at 37 on September 13th.

Algieri believes that the loss for Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs) would fan the flames for the criticism he’s already receiving for ducking certain fighters during his career. He shouldn’t lose to someone as old, inactive, and small as Crawford. The difference in resumes between the two fighters is massive. Crawford has an Adrien Broner-type resume.

Canelo has fought opposition that is actually good, fighters like Gennadiy Golovkin, Dmitry Bivol, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Erislandy Lara.

THE MASSIVE TARNISH ON CANELO’S LEGACY

“The guy may do it, and if he loses, I don’t really think it affects his legacy all that much. All the accomplishments that he already has, Crawford. They’re not going to be forgotten. He’s jumping up two weight classes,” said Chris Algieri to Fight Hub TV, talking about there being no downside for Terence Crawford going up against Canelo Alvarez on September 13th.

Crawford’s accomplishments aren’t much if you look at his resume. He’s a four-division world champion and a two-division undisputed champion. His actual wins aren’t impressive at all if you follow the sport and understand who is good. He beat B-level fighters.

The only A-level guy Crawford beat was Israil Madrimov, and that was controversial. “So, I think it’s a win-win, loss-loss situation for these guys. A win-win for Crawford, and a lose-lose for Canelo. That’s a great point made by Crawford. That’s a good way to get under Canelo’s skin,” said Algieri. “Yeah, there is a lot on the line for Canelo because if he loses this, the tarnish on his legacy is massive. He lost to a welterweight. He lost to a lightweight. He was a lightweight world champion.”

The $100 Million Canelo Payday Canelo knows it’s a no-win situation. That’s why he didn’t want to fight Crawford in the first place. The only reason he chose to is because Turki Alalshikh lured him with a career-high $100 million payday. So, if Alvarez loses, the money will be a salve for his wounded feelings. He can drown his sorrows with the mega-millions and invent reasons why he was beaten.

“He [Crawford] jumped up two weight classes. He was 30 years old [correction: 37, pushing 38 on September 28]. There’s going to be a lot of that. A lot of the criticism Canelo has been receiving lately, for not fighting certain guys, is going to come back to haunt him that much more,” said Algieri. A loss to Crawford will show fans that Alvarez hasn’t improved since his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013.

He was gifted decisions over Gennadiy Golovkin and Erislandy Lara. He waited until GGG was 36 before he finally fought him. Losing to an old Crawford, who should have lost his last fight against Israil Madrimov, would prove the theories fans have about Canelo being a pampered, protected fighter. “I like Canelo, but he gets a lot of heat out there. So, I think a loss here is going to be a lot more. A loss here is going to fan those flames,” said Algieri.

CRAWFORD FIGHT SHOULDN’T HAPPEN

The criticism Canelo has been getting won’t go away regardless of how good he looks against Crawford. Fans won’t let him forget that he’s swerved David Benavidez, David Morrell, Diego Pacheco, and Christian Mbilli. Fighting an old, small Crawford, who is coming off an abysmal performance in his debut at 154 last year, won’t take that away. This fight should not even be happening if boxing were regulated like other sports.

Nick Kyrgios Speaks Out on Emma Raducanu Following ‘Unprofessional’ Remark at Cincinnati Open

Nick Kyrgios has explained why his heart goes out to Emma Raducanu amid a bizarre incident at the Cincinnati Open.

Raducanu and Aryna Sabalenka were involved in a gruelling third round clash at the Cincinnati Open on Monday.

But the Brit succumbed to the world No.1, who edged out 7-6 (7-3) 4-6 7-6 (7-5) in a gruelling contest that lasted three hours and nine minutes.

The match between Raducanu and Sabalenka will also be remembered for a frosty exchange involving the umpire.

Before serving a vital point in the third set, Raducanu was held up by a crying child in the stands.

“It’s been like 10 minutes,” she exclaimed.

The umpire replied: “It’s a child. Do you want me to kick the child out of the stadium?”

Raducanu shrugged before some fans shouted ‘yes’ on her behalf.

Naturally, the incident between Raducanu and the match official got tennis fans online talking.

People on social media sided with the 22-year-old, calling out the umpire’s ‘professionalism’.

And, judging by his previous comments, Kyrgios would also likely back Raducanu.

In a post on X responding to former professionals criticising Raducanu earlier this year, he wrote: “What’s with old retired players giving their opinion on our stars now?

“I love A-rod [Andy Roddick] and I agree we all need to chill with the rackets and all that, but geezus, I read an article about a past female player talking about Raducanu, no offence but she is a far far bigger name already.”

Kyrgios also explained why his heart goes out to her.

“My heart does go out to her,” he said on talkSPORT last June.

“I look at that run, I was watching it on TV, she was smiling and enjoying her tennis so much and that whole two weeks for her was an incredible journey and she then won the US Open.

“But since then, I’ve seen her kind of enjoy her tennis, but I’ve never really seen her smile and really enjoy it as she did when she won the tournament.

“Whether or not that it’s external pressure, I don’t know what’s going on, but at the end of the day, we play sport because we love it and we go out there because we want to compete and entertain people.

“I hope that she figures out what’s wrong and what’s going on there, I hope she finds the answers, but I completely understand.

Inside the Rapid Rise and Impressive Progress of Tiger Woods’ Ambitious New North Texas Golf Course

Former PGA Tour star J.J. Henry, alongside Bluejack National’s visionaries Andy Mitchell and Kristin Mitchell, is driving remarkable momentum in bringing the one-of-a-kind Bluejack Ranch community to life.

On a warm, sunlit day in June, Henry could be seen maneuvering his Can-Am vehicle across the dusty roads and gentle hills of what was once expansive ranchland in Aledo. His mission? To give an up-close tour of a project poised to transform the landscape — a \$100 million master-planned development spanning 914 acres, complete with hundreds of homes and a world-class 18-hole golf course crafted by Tiger Woods’ own design firm, TGR Design.

The land’s rugged, natural beauty is reminiscent of the Texas Hill Country, with sweeping views and rolling terrain that invite exploration. For Henry, navigating the property has become second nature. Once known for his precision on the professional golf circuit, he now jokes about his latest role: “I went from a tour player to a tour guide, and I love it,” he says with a grin while steering through the property.

Unveiled to the public just last year, Bluejack Ranch is shaping up to be far more than a luxury neighborhood. The plans read like a dream list for outdoor enthusiasts and luxury seekers alike: two championship-caliber golf courses, an equestrian facility with a horse stable and outdoor arena, and a 20-acre “working dude ranch” complete with horses, longhorn cattle, and even miniature donkeys. Residents will also enjoy a spa and wellness retreat, multiple pools, tennis and pickleball courts, and a family entertainment center designed for gatherings and celebrations.

From its ambitious amenities to its picturesque setting, Bluejack Ranch is steadily emerging as one of North Texas’s most exciting and distinctive new communities — a place where world-class design meets the spirit of the Texas countryside.

Lamont Roach Reacts with Joy to the Resolution of Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ Domestic Violence Case

On July 11, Gervonta “Tank” Davis (who is the WBA lightweight champion and one of boxing’s biggest stars) was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, on charges of assault after an alleged domestic violence dispute with his ex-girlfriend (who is also the mother of his two children).

The incident occurred on June 15, when Davis allegedly struck the woman on the back of the head. He also allegedly slapped her in the face while she was removing the children from the back of Davis’ car after he came to pick them up for Father’s Day.

The victim reportedly had a cut on her inner lip as a result of this altercation, and her mother (who appeared on the scene after the reported altercation occurred) had a phone recording where Davis could reportedly be seen throwing an object at his ex-girlfriend.

On August 12, Dylan Segelbaum of the Baltimore Banner broke news that the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office decided against filing charges against Davis. This stemmed from Lindsay Chase, an attorney who represents Davis’ ex-girlfriend, reporting via email that she was declining to prosecute Davis.

Segelbaum’s article also notes that any attempts to contact the ex-girlfriend’s mother have been unsuccessful in the wake of Davis’ arrest, and since the police officer who arrived on the scene hadn’t witnessed any of the alleged altercations take place, he couldn’t be used as a witness.

As a result of this verdict, Gervonta is now free to focus on his boxing career for the time being. Of course, he was scheduled to face Lamont Roach on August 16, in a rematch of their March 1 title fight that ended up being a majority draw.

Many believed that Roach deserved to win that controversial fight for various reasons, which could have resulted in Davis receiving the first loss of his professional career. This is why there was a lot of intrigue about this upcoming rematch, which has since been postponed.

Roach made his feelings about Davis’ case getting dropped clear on X Tuesday, as he responded, “🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣” to an X post that featured a video of comedians Druski and Kevin Hart along with streamer Kai Cenat dancing and celebrating together with the caption, “Lamont Roach hearing the Gervonta Davis news today”.

Roach might be thinking that his chances of getting the record straight against Tank in the near future have just become much better, now that this legal case is not an issue.

Anthony Joshua Poised to Ignite Boxing History By Reviving Muhammad Ali’s Most Iconic Moment in Next Showdown

It seems we may now be close to the details of Anthony Joshua’s next fight being announced. For months on end, speculation has been rife in the boxing world regarding who ‘AJ’ will bounce back against following his brutal KO loss to Daniel Dubois last September, and his opponent now seems all but confirmed. Despite there being talk of a potential deal finally being struck for Joshua to fight Tyson Fury, after years of fans being desperate for that fight, as well as rumours of a bizarre matchup against social media superstar turned professional boxer, Jake Paul, it looks like ‘AJ’ will be fighting neither man. Instead, he will likely be sharing the squared circle with a fellow Olympic gold medalist.

Last week, it was revealed by French media outlet L’Equipe that Joshua had told French boxing promoter Yohan Zaoui that there was a 90% chance that his next opponent would be Tony Yoka, who won Olympic gold at the 2016 Olympic Games, and that the fight would take place in December. Although there seems to be plenty of things close to being set in stone for Joshua vs Yoka, one thing which hasn’t been spoken about much is where the fight will take place, however, that changed earlier today, as Matchroom Boxing CEO Frank Smith gave a huge tease and hint as to where the fight could take place.

Although there has been some initial disappointment from boxing fans that Anthony Joshua’s next fight will be against Tony Yoka as opposed to a big heavyweight star, the fight’s location could generate an incredible amount of hype. On Tuesday, the 12th of August, Matchroom Boxing CEO Frank Smith posted a picture to social media of himself inside the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana, seemingly teasing that Joshua vs Yoka could take place in Africa.

A boxing superstar as big as Joshua potentially fighting in Africa is huge news for the sport as well as Africa as a continent, and will give plenty of fans a throwback to what it was like back in 1974, when Muhammad Ali and George Foreman competed against each other at The Rumble in the Jungle in Kinshasa, Zaire, now the Democratic Rebublic of Congo.

Anthony Joshua

The Rumble in the Jungle is to many the most iconic event in the history of boxing, and the most iconic moment of Ali’s legendary career. If ‘AJ’ is able to make the event even a fraction as good and historic as Rumble in the Jungle was, it could revitalise his career.

Anthony Joshua Delivers Ruthless Reply to Proposal from Unbeaten 41-Year-Old Boxing Icon for Return Bout

Anthony Joshua channeled his inner Canelo Alvarez when responding to Andre Ward’s offer for a potential fight.

Joshua is gearing up for his return to the ring, having been inactive since he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois in September last year.

While he is believed to be making a return in late 2025, or at the beginning of 2026, Joshua’s opponent is yet to be officially announced.

One man that is vying for the spot in the opposite corner is, former professional boxer, Andre Ward.

Ward was a hugely respected pound-for-pound fighter in his heyday, although he has been retired since 2017.

The American left the ring with an unbeaten professional record of 32-0, but is now suggesting he’d make a return if Joshua accepts his offer to fight.

Ward took to Instagram when he suggested in a video: “There’s one name that I brought up before that when you say that name I can see myself fighting him. Present day. Today.

“If the business was right and everything was right on that front, me and Anthony Joshua.

“That’s a fight that I would take at Wembley Stadium. It’s a dangerous fight for my legacy, it’s a dangerous fight across the board. But that’s a fight that would get me in the gym and get me in the mindset that I need to be in to go to war.

Joshua quickly hit back suggesting that this is purely a financial move from Ward.

He savagely said: “Pay Day Pay Day [Canelo voice].”

Which then sparked a back-and-forth between the pair in the comment section of Ward’s post.

To which Joshua replied: “Don’t come asking for multi millions to fight me. Put your pride before your ego and let’s rumble.”

That was where their public interactions came to a close, although Joshua continued to respond to fans remarks in the same comment section.

Who will Anthony Joshua be fighting next?

Ward seemed serious in getting a chance to fight Joshua, but as it stands the Briton is heavily linked to a fight with another American instead.

Paul recently met with Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh to discuss the terms.

Anthony Joshua

Having already verbally agreed to fight it seems to be a matter of when, not if, we see them share the ring.

Joshua’s long-term promoter and Matchroom Boxing chairman, Eddie Hearn, issued Paul a warning should their bout go ahead.

It seemed to be a humorous idea at one stage, but now as the conversations are progressing we may seriously see a match up between Joshua and the Youtuber-turned-boxer after all.

Charges Against Boxing Superstar Davis Suddenly Dropped in Domestic Case

Domestic violence charges have been dropped against unbeaten world lightweight boxing champion Gervonta Davis over a June incident with his ex-girlfriend.

The Miami-Dade County Clerk’s Office website showed a misdemeanor battery charge was discharged on Tuesday when the woman declined to prosecute Davis.

The 30-year-old American had been involved in a Father’s Day incident outside the home of the woman, who has two children by the fighter, and was arrested on July 11 in Miami Beach.

Davis, a southpaw boxer, is 30-0 with one draw and 28 knockouts. His most recent bout was a controversial majority draw against compatriot Lamont Roach in New York last March in which Davis kept the World Boxing Association lightweight crown.

It’s not known when Davis will return to the ring, although there had been talk of a rematch with Roach, 25-1 with two drawn and 10 knockouts, before the arrest.

With his father standing supportively nearby, Charlie revealed his decision to temporarily step away from the junior golf circuit in order to pursue a new and unconventional training path aimed at preparing him for elite-level competition.

Insiders say this global tour will expose Charlie to diverse playing conditions, challenging layouts, and varying climates—all part of a carefully curated plan to accelerate his development as a world-class golfer.

“We want Charlie to be prepared not just to compete, but to win—anywhere, anytime,” a close family confidant told reporters. “This is about long-term vision and shaping a well-rounded, mentally tough competitor.”

Serena Williams’ mirror selfies ignite heated fan debate

Tennis legend’s latest Instagram photos divide followers over beauty standards and representation

Serena Williams thought she was just sharing some cute mirror selfies. Instead, she accidentally started a cultural firestorm.

The tennis icon’s recent Instagram post from Manhattan’s Fouquet’s New York hotel seemed innocent enough—a few snapshots of her rocking a sleek grey ensemble with vibrant red-orange heels. But within hours, her comment section became a battlefield over beauty standards, identity and what it means to represent Black excellence in America.

When Compliments Turn Into Criticism

Williams looked confident and radiant in her monochromatic outfit, complete with a flowing maxi skirt and crop top that showed off her athletic build. Her signature blonde ombre hair caught the hotel’s ambient lighting perfectly. Yet many fans weren’t celebrating—they were worried.

The concerns weren’t about the outfit or the setting. They were about Williams herself. Followers expressed sadness over what they saw as changes to her appearance, suggesting she was moving away from the powerful representation of Black beauty she’d embodied for decades. Some even accused her of setting a poor example for young Black girls.

It’s the kind of scrutiny that most celebrities never face, but Williams has been carrying this burden her entire career.

The Weight of Williams’ Transformation

Since welcoming daughter Adira River in August 2023, Williams has embraced a serious fitness routine. Her 17 million Instagram followers regularly see glimpses of her gym sessions and wellness journey. What should be celebrated as a new mom prioritizing her health has instead become fuel for debate.

Fans noticed changes to her famously powerful physique—particularly the curves and muscular build that made her an icon of strength. Some worried she was conforming to conventional beauty standards rather than staying true to the body that revolutionized tennis.

The speculation goes deeper than fitness. Persistent rumors about skin lightening have followed Williams for years, despite her repeated denials. During promotional appearances for her Wyn Beauty brand, she’s consistently attributed any perceived changes to lighting and makeup, emphasizing her pride in her natural complexion.

The Impossible Standard of Representation

Here’s what makes Williams‘ situation uniquely challenging: she’s not just a retired athlete posting selfies. She’s become an unwitting symbol of Black female empowerment, and every public appearance feels like a referendum on her authenticity.

When Williams changes her hair, her workout routine, or even her Instagram filter, millions of people interpret it as a statement about race, beauty and cultural values. It’s an exhausting responsibility that few public figures must navigate.

Williams has pushed back against this policing with characteristic directness. She’s used her platform to promote self-acceptance while refusing to let critics dictate her choices. Her public statements about embracing her Black identity serve as both personal affirmation and broader education about colorism.

Beyond the Selfie Controversy

This latest dust-up reveals something uncomfortable about how society treats successful Black women. Williams spent decades shattering barriers in tennis while facing criticism about everything from her clothing to her celebrations. Now, even in retirement, her personal choices spark heated cultural debates.

The intensity of fan reactions shows just how much weight Williams carries as a representative figure. Her mirror selfies weren’t just photos—they were perceived as shifts in the visual representation of Black excellence that millions have come to expect.

But Williams has never been one to shrink from controversy. Throughout her career, she’s turned criticism into opportunity, using each challenge to educate and inspire. Her willingness to address rumors head-on while maintaining her right to personal evolution offers a masterclass in authentic leadership.

The conversation sparked by these selfies ultimately serves a purpose: it forces everyone to examine their expectations of Black women in the spotlight and challenges the notion that public figures must remain frozen in time to satisfy others’ comfort.

Williams continues living her truth, one Instagram post at a time. And that, perhaps, is the most powerful message of all.

50 Cent Accuses Floyd Mayweather Of Allegedly Trying To Pawn Off His Belongings

50 Cent is once again taking aim at the legendary boxer, Floyd Mayweather, on social media over his finances.
50 Cent claims that his longtime rival, Floyd Mayweather, is allegedly going broke and is even resorting to pawning off his valuables.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, he shared a picture of a golden goblet in his possession as well as an older picture of the boxing legend appearing to drink out of the same one. “Damn champ you pawning sh*t, they just hit me asking do I want it, they want 80K for it call my phone,” 50 captioned the post, as caught by Complex. The actual backstory of the chalice is unclear.

Regardless of the truth, fans shared plenty of laughs in the comments section of the post. “For 80k I’m pawning that sh*t too,” one user admitted. Another theorized: “That is a church chalice used for Communion. My question is how did it end up in a pawn shop?”

50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather have been at odds on social media for ages. Earlier this year, 50 Cent teased Mayweather for a comment he made on the The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon about his real estate portfolio. “I don’t know the exact number. I own, right now, somewhere upwards of 100 buildings or more, I think 99% of my buildings are in New York City,” Mayweather said on the show in April.

50 shared the clip on Instagram and immediately cast doubt on his claim. “Oh my God. If there safe to say, I should say LOL. Champ is the richest special ed student. LMAO,” he wrote. Taking to the comments section, he further added: “Oh sh*t wait I think Champ think he own them buildings. They beating him out of the money. He saying he don’t know what he own… Somebody tell champ he just publicly said he live in NY. They will come and take 58% of any income he has.”

He also took aim at Mayweather in May, when the boxing legend decided to file a defamation lawsuit against Business Insider. Mayweather was upset about an article the outlet published downplaying the likelihood of him actually owning so many buildings in New York City. “Well that case is going nowhere because you didn’t do the deal champ. He must must have named the writer separately to make him have to pay his own legal team. Champ mad,” 50 wrote on social media.
