Anthony Joshua fight can absolutely happen, says Paul’s manager

Jake Paul’s manager Nakisa Bidarian has told Sky Sports he is holding talks about a blockbuster fight with Anthony Joshua.

Joshua, who has not fought since losing to Daniel Dubois in September last year, underwent elbow surgery in May but is targeting a return to the ring later in 2025.

Since then, YouTuber-turned-professional boxer Paul beat veterans Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at heavyweight and cruiserweight respectively.

After defeating Chavez by unanimous decision last month, Paul audaciously called for a showdown with Joshua and has met with Turki Alalshikh to try and make it happen.

“I think the fight can absolutely happen,” Bidarian told Sky Sports News. “I’m looking at it as Jake versus Joshua, which is quite biblical, and it’s quite impactful in many ways.

“I think size wise, we can get comfortable with it, and I think experience wise, Jake is learning very fast and growing, and Joshua is a little long in the tooth. So it could be a very interesting matchup, and we’re actively discussing it with Matchroom.

“I think we’re looking at it happening at the start of 2026. It’s public that AJ was taking a little time away, I think he had a little surgery. So once he’s ready, and once Jake is ready, we’re going to squarely focus on that.

“It’s a fight that Jake wants to do, and that’s a discussion we’ve had at length, and he feels very confident about where he is in his career and his chances of upsetting Anthony Joshua.”

There are plenty of concerns over whether Paul will be able to make the step up to take on a world-leading heavyweight like Joshua, but Bidarian is adamant his star client would not take the fight if he wasn’t ready.

“Power is obviously the last thing to go,” he added. “So obviously, AJ has a ton of power, and he’s still fairly young. Mike Tyson – much more vicious of a knockout artist than Anthony Joshua – that was a risk Jake was willing to take.

“Francis Ngannou, amazing MMA fighter, very powerful man, but not an experienced boxer, right? He is a lot less experienced than Jake Paul. So if people were comfortable with Francis getting in there with AJ, Jake, who is now 13 fights in, plus one amateur fight, then we are comfortable with this.

“Wembley’s definitely a possibility. Jake said he’d like to do it there. He likes the idea of going in and hearing 90,000 people booing him!”

Tyson Fury is currently retired from boxing but has teased a return to the sport, and promoter Hearn is still keen to make a Joshua-Fury fight.

“AJ has been out [of action] for coming up to a year in September, so we definitely want to fight again,” Hearn said earlier this month.

Hearn: A chance to ‘extinguish’ Jake Paul from world of boxing

Paul propelled himself to fame on YouTube but has now won 12 fights after launching his boxing career in 2020.

The 28-year-old suffered defeat to Tommy Fury in 2023 but has gone on to beat former UFC star Nate Diaz, professional American boxers Andre August and Ryan Bourland, plus former UFC fighter Mike Perry.

A controversially-sanctioned bout against Tyson is Paul’s only heavyweight fight so far, before he stepped down to cruiserweight against Chavez.

“AJ-Paul is never a fight we anticipated, and it’s never a fight we’ve targeted,” Hearn added. “But if you want Jake Paul to be the warm-up fight [for Tyson Fury] – and obviously, financially, it’s a great opportunity for AJ – and you want to provide AJ with the opportunity to extinguish Jake Paul from the world of boxing, then maybe AJ would oblige.

“Jake’s a big, strong cruiserweight. I don’t think he’s particularly competitive, but we know in the world we live in, a lot of people would watch it.

“It may be the biggest fight that can be made, bizarrely, in the sport. I’m not going to sit here and tell you, ‘yeah, it’s a great challenge’.

“I think he gets flattened ASAP, but there’ll be a huge amount of people globally that would want to watch that.

“We’ll see. His Excellency said to us, ‘would you be interested in making the fight?’ I can’t say no, because until we know the proposal, maybe. And if Jake Paul is crazy enough to step in the ring with Anthony Joshua, and he might be, because of the amount of money that will be at stake, who knows? You could see AJ against Jake Paul next.”

Jake Paul faces competition for Anthony Joshua fight as new rival emerges

Tony Yoka is eager to derail Jake Paul’s plans to face Anthony Joshua by challenging the two-time heavyweight champion himself.

Yoka – who claimed Olympic gold in Rio – appeared destined for greatness following his professional debut in 2017, but the previously unbeaten heavyweight endured three consecutive losses to Martin Bakole, Carlos Takam and Ryad Merhy.

He has since clawed his way back into contention with victories over Amine Boucetta, Lamah Griggs and Arslan Yallyev. Following those three triumphs, the Frenchman secured a lucrative deal with Queensberry Promotions as he seeks to re-establish himself as a heavyweight threat.

After the announcement, speculation regarding a potential clash between Yoka and Joshua began to swirl, reports All Out Fighting. The French heavyweight was quick to respond to those rumours, telling BoxNation: “I mean, I heard some rumours about it. I believe in my team.

“I believe in Queensberry, my manager and my coach to do the best fights for me. I’m not in any talks with him so I don’t know what’s going on. What I know is that I’m getting ready for anybody and after this big win, if they ask or propose me to fight Joshua, of course. That would be a great, great fight for me to take.”

Joshua has remained inactive since his crushing loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024 – but is eyeing a comeback before the end of the year. While Yoka reckons Joshua might have bigger fish to fry, the 33-year-old Frenchman would jump at the chance to square off against ‘AJ’ without hesitation.

“There is a history behind it as two Olympic gold medalists. I think that’s something that makes sense,” he continued. “I saw him fight some guys that I didn’t even know. I think it was just before Otto Wallin he fought a guy, I don’t know the guy [Joshua beat Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius]. I understand that he lost against Dubois last year. They might want to do something like Joshua-Fury or whatever. You want a fight before that, I’m here. You don’t have to look like too far from there.”

A potential clash between Joshua and Yoka could deal a massive setback to Paul. The YouTuber-turned-boxer and the British heavyweight have verbally committed to a bout. During a recent Sky Sports interview, Paul’s promoter and business partner – Nakisa Bidarian – disclosed that he’s in talks with Eddie Hearn and that the encounter could materialise much earlier than expected.

“I think the fight can absolutely happen,” he said. “I’m looking at it as Jake versus Joshua, which is quite biblical, and it’s quite impactful in many ways. I think size wise, we can get comfortable with it, and I think experience wise, Jake is learning very fast and growing, and Joshua is a little long in the tooth.

It’s a fight that Jake wants to do, and that’s a discussion we’ve had at length, and he feels very confident about where he is in his career and his chances of upsetting Anthony Joshua.”

When is Jake Paul’s next fight?

After making a successful comeback to the ring in June, Paul is keen to keep the momentum going. The American is now able to compete for a world title, having been ranked in the WBC’s cruiserweight listings after his victory over Chavez Jr.

The manager of the 28-year-old fighter revealed that his client is keen to compete for a world title ‘as soon as possible’. However, he concedes it’s unlikely to be his next match, considering the current landscape at 200lbs. “Absolutely [he will fight again this year]. November or December,” Bidarian informed Ariel Helwani when queried about Paul’s forthcoming plans.

“I’m meeting him tonight for dinner, and we’ll discuss [his next opponent]. The only certainty right now is that Jake is eager to compete for a belt at the earliest opportunity. I need to have a chat with him, I reckon it’s a tall order this year [to box for a world title]. Badou Jack is the one he’s most interested in taking on, but he’s obligated to a rematch with the bloke he just defeated [Noel Mikaelian] for the WBC. I’m not sure if a title bout is feasible this year, but we’ll see.”

Tyson Fury continues to flip-flop on retirement.

‘The Gypsy King’ hung up his gloves for a fourth time in January following back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

However, he reversed his decision five months later when he told assembled media in Istanbul, Turkey, that he wanted a third crack at Usyk.

Anthony Joshua’s name was then thrown into the mix, and for just over a month, Fury maintained his conviction to fight again.

Alalshikh even informed talkSPORT on the night of Usyk vs Daniel Dubois that there was a three-fight deal being trashed out with Fury.

But in typical fashion, the Mancunian has since changed his mind once again.

Asked by Sky Sports when he will return to the ring during a visit to Doncaster Racecourse, Fury replied: “Never.

“Too old, look at my beard, all grey. Boxing is a young man’s game.”

As with most things that come out of Fury’s mouth, his latest comments should be taken with a pinch of salt.

The Brit is 36 years old and proved in his duels with Usyk that he still has miles left on the clock.

For now, at least, it seems the plan is for Fury to box Joshua next year following a tune-up fight.

“Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury next year, we are trying to do it and we are thinking about it,” said Alalshikh during a recent appearance on ‘The Boxing Voice’.

“I need to have for each one tune-up fight first.

“Why? Because they are both coming off losses. It’s to build it up.”

Joshua has been heavily linked with a fight against fellow Olympic gold medallist Tony Yoka.

Meanwhile, Fury’s interim bout remains unclear.

The two-time world heavyweight champion won’t be able to return to action until he has wrapped up the filming for the second season of ‘At Home with the Furys’ and his Netflix documentary.

Once those projects have been completed, his next outing should become clear.

Anthony Joshua and his next opponent in boxing appear close to locking in an agreement for a heavyweight spectacle in the coming months, and that raises alarm bells for the former two-time champion’s long-time promoter, Eddie Hearn, who is the chairman of flourishing British sports firm Matchroom.

Joshua has beaten a who’s who of big-name fighters in his division throughout the years, including Dillian Whyte, Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker, Alexander Povetkin, and Otto Wallin. He has not fought, though, since his brutal fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois — which took place at Wembley Stadium in London almost one year ago — and is not expected to return to the ring until “early 2026.”

Oleksandr Usyk, who has beaten Joshua twice already, owns all of the heavyweight world titles right now, and Joshua’s long-time rival Tyson Fury remains retired. This leaves few obvious opponents for AJ to fight, however, of all the names linked to the superstar fighter, there is one who is “a very real” candidate to fight Joshua, according to Hearn.

Why Anthony Joshua’s Next Fight Concerns Boxing Promoter Eddie Hearn

Hearn sees the bout as a mismatch

The fight is a “dangerous” one, said Hearn when talking to Ring Magazine.

Previously, Hearn had said Whyte, Jared Anderson, and even Deontay Wilder were in the running to box Joshua next. Yet a new candidate has emerged as a “50-50” probability to fight the Brit because of what Hearn sees as the enormous financial viability of the showdown.

“This is very real,” Hearn added, regarding a crossover contest involving Jake Paul.

Hearn said that he and Paul’s business partner and Most Valuable Promotions co-founder, Nikisa Bidarian, had an hour-long chat on July 30 to discuss the likelihood of the improbable worlds of Paul, and Joshua, colliding.

“Nakisa was very honest and he’s concerned about the fight but Jake truly believes he can win the fight or at least be competitive in it.”

“And now, because of the size of the fight, it leads me to believe there’s a very good chance it could happen. If I had to rate that chance I would say it’s 50:50. It was a very positive conversation and we expect that conversation to extend over the coming weeks.”

“If they really want it, it will happen.”

One obstacle block in the match-up regards weight, as Paul is typically a cruiserweight. Joshua, though, is an established heavyweight who is an effective giant at 6-foot-6 and around 250 pounds in weight. But Hearn insists both guys would weigh a similar amount on the night. As much as there could be people who point at Joshua’s decline, or to Paul’s gradual developments, but Hearn, still, struggles to “justify” a “mismatch.”

“It’s dangerous in my opinion.”

Hearn continued: “I think Joshua is probably yet to get his head round it until he knows that it’s a possibility. After my call this week I’d say it’s definitely a possibility. AJ understands the commercial world and will look at this and see that it’s huge. It would probably be the biggest fight that could ever happen anywhere. It would be right up there with his biggest purses ever. You can talk about the boxing world but this would be the outer world.”

It is the type of contest Joshua has willingly engaged in before, considering he took on the former UFC champion Francis Ngannou, and dispatched of him with ease because of a brutal, second-round knockout. There is a motivation in doing the same to Paul, so that the former creator and YouTube star’s run in boxing can finally come to an end, Hearn said.

“This is dangerous. This is like tuning in to watch David Blaine but much more dangerous and much more real. You’re not trying to escape from a box in three minutes, you’re in there with one of the biggest punchers of all time and it isn’t a game.

“It’s never I’ve called for or told people we’re targeting this but I do also understand the colossal size of this fight commercially and probably the appetite from a lot of people to evaporate Jake Paul from the boxing world. That is probably what this does.”

Deontay Wilder is currently plotting his next move in the heavyweight division.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ recently returned to action with a seventh round stoppage win over Tyrrell Herndon, ending a poor run of form that had seen Wilder lose four fights over the past few years.

Despite the win over Herndon, some fans still believe that Wilder should consider hanging up the gloves due to him being a far cry from the man that was the long-reigning WBC heavyweight champion, especially with him now being 39-years-old.

READ: Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua fight could happen much sooner than expected

Wilder doesn’t appear to have any plans to retire though, telling The Fighter’s Voice that he must take on Anthony Joshua at some stage before calling him on his career.

“Most definitely [the AJ fight will happen]… we’re still in it and we’re still active and we’re gonna meet each other.

“You know it’s a lot of great things that has been going on in boxing you know with different people that’s getting involved and making the best fights happen at this appropriate time, you know and I’m looking forward to it all.

“I don’t have no time to take no steps back, you know we have a strategic plan that we have planned set for and we’re following along with it but if we have to take certain shortcuts and certain things we will do so. I am a veteran in this business at this moment in time and I love every bit of it.”

Joshua was last in action in September 2024, suffering a fifth round knockout to Daniel Dubois. He’s been linked to a clash with Wilder for a number of years, but as of yet it has never been able to come to fruition.

With Wilder making it clear that he wants the Joshua fight, one fellow heavyweight who has suffered defeats to both men has delivered his verdict for how it may unfold.

Jake Paul’s promoter believes a fight with Anthony Joshua could happen early next year.

The YouTuber-turned-pugilist has spent most of the year campaigning for a scrap with the former two-time heavyweight world champion. Following his expression of interest during his podcast earlier this year, Paul engaged in a brief telephone conversation with Joshua, with both men ultimately reaching a verbal agreement for a blockbuster encounter.

Earlier this month, Paul was present ringside for Oleksandr Usyk’s victory over Daniel Dubois and confirmed that a future bout with Joshua will occur next year. He told DAZN: “Yeah 100 per cent it’s going to happen. We’re going to do the unthinkable and create one of the biggest fights in the history of boxing.”

espite speculation surrounding the heavyweight clash taking place towards the end of 2026, Paul’s promoter and business partner – Nakisa Bidarian – has disclosed that he is engaged in talks with Eddie Hearn and that the encounter could materialise much earlier than expected, reports All Out Fighting.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I think the fight can absolutely happen. I’m looking at it as Jake versus Joshua, which is quite biblical, and it’s quite impactful in many ways. I think size wise, we can get comfortable with it, and I think experience wise, Jake is learning very fast and growing, and Joshua is a little long in the tooth. It’s a fight that Jake wants to do, and that’s a discussion we’ve had at length, and he feels very confident about where he is in his career and his chances of upsetting Anthony Joshua.”

Meanwhile, a sports finance expert has predicted a potential clash between the duo could generate $40million (£30m). With millions across the globe expected to watch, it’s hardly shocking that both fighters would be handsomely compensated for their efforts.

Nevertheless, it appears money isn’t the primary motivation for Paul. The American is evidently desperate to secure the bout and is even prepared to accept a ONE PER CENT share of the prize money. This comes from Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh, who revealed during a recent stint on ‘The Boxing Voice’: “I’m not against what Jake Paul’s doing in boxing, it’s good for boxing to have a young generation.

“I’m against some kinds of fights he does. I’m now thinking him against Joshua. Joshua, if he destroys (Paul), it will be good for me. The headache of Jake Paul goes from my mind. If Jake Paul wins, I will know that Joshua is finished, and Jake Paul deserves his ranking and deserves to have a future in boxing. I don’t want 50-50. In this situation, I want 99-1. Jake Paul has accepted. Now, next week I will talk with Joshua about it.”

Former cruiserweight world champion Johnny Nelson believes Anthony Joshua’s opportunity to compete for boxing’s most prestigious titles has passed.

Nelson has pinned the former world No.1’s decline on his lack of a support system that would push him to peak performance. Just three years ago, Joshua, 35, was positioned to unify the heavyweight division before back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.

The Olympic gold medallist then seemed to be mounting a comeback after stringing together four consecutive victories, only to endure a crushing fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois last year. Nelson, who hung up his gloves in 2006 following a decade without defeat, reckons the boxing world has “seen the best” of Joshua and he has partly attributed his tumble from the world title scene to ‘AJ’ lacking the proper individuals in his camp.

Johnny Nelson thinks Anthony Joshua has 'no excuses' after being demolished by Daniel Dubois and says AJ needs to decide on his future in boxing.

JUST IN: Jake Paul told by WBC exactly how to earn world title shot as imminent fight ruled out

“It’s very hard to have people around you that’ll tell you how it is,” ‘The Entertainer’ told the Mirror, courtesy of NewBettingSites.uk. “You’re going to have people around you that want to stay in your employment, stay in that circle. So they’re going to tell you stuff that you want to hear.

“They’re not going to tell you, ‘You need to be doing this, you need to get a hand up, you’re getting hit, you’re getting beat up by this guy here. Why are you doing that? Why aren’t you running this time? Why are you going to open that crisp packet when you should be in the gym?'”

Nelson claimed: “Nobody on his squad are going to dare tell him that with any conviction. And so now all of a sudden the roles have changed, whereas when you’re hungry, and you need it, they want to drag you up.

“Now he’s the boss. They work for him. And so that’s where the problem is. And I think that along with time, along with age, along with experience, along with appetite, once they get out of kilter [it’s over]. AJ’s in that position.”

A clear tone of disappointment could be detected in AJ’s voice as he watched Usyk’s brutal knockout of Dubois at Wembley on Saturday.  Promoter Eddie Hearn informed his fighter they “should have beaten Dubois,” with the former world champion responding plainly: “I know.”

Joshua’s perfect record was shattered when he endured another shocking defeat in June 2019, suffering a seventh-round stoppage against Andy Ruiz. Whilst he secured revenge just six months afterwards, it provided yet another illustration of the Briton’s misjudgement.

His pair of points losses to Usyk can scarcely be deemed disgraceful considering the Ukrainian’s triumphs since stepping up to heavyweight. However, the same cannot necessarily be argued regarding his IBF title bout with Dubois, especially given the condition he displayed during that period.

Nevertheless, it’s arguably significant that both of those shocking defeats to Ruiz and Dubois occurred during periods when AJ was experiencing tremendous momentum in his career.

The first materialised when Joshua boasted a perfect 22-0 record and possessed the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO titles, whilst Dubois conquered him precisely when it appeared he had regained his dominance, having stopped each of his preceding three opponents.

He now confronts an uncertain future, with a potential bout against YouTuber Jake Paul being suggested, whilst rumours of a Tyson Fury encounter are perpetually circulating.

Nelson proceeded to compare Joshua’s predicament to that of former training partner Prince Naseem Hamed, who was once a world-beater himself.

“I’ve been around Prince Naseem, an amazing fighter. And I was around him from the very beginning of his career,” Nelson continued. “But then all of a sudden he started to surround himself with yes men. He deleted all the people that kept him grounded and said it how it was to him to keep him real.

“And the more yes men he surrounded himself with, the more his boxing life turned into chaos. He lost fights he shouldn’t have done.

“He was surrounding himself by the swimming pool in Bob Hope’s house when [Marco Antonio] Barrera was up in the mountains training. And he’s saying, ‘Yeah, I don’t have to do this.’ There was nobody around him to say, ‘What are you doing?’ It’s the same with a lot of modern fighters now.”

The earnings for top-tier boxers today are higher than ever, and Nelson is pleased that Joshua has amassed enough wealth to comfortably retire from the sport. However, there’s a lingering question as to why Britain’s former golden boy hasn’t fully realised his potential, with some suggesting that those in Joshua’s circle may share some responsibility.

Is Jake Paul really going to box Anthony Joshua?

There have been mixed messages this week, but this might not be the unthinkable fight that some think it is.

Paul has recently made known his desire to face the British heavyweight star, and after beating ex-world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in late June, the YouTuber has turned his attention to a potential bout with “AJ”.

It would not be Paul’s first time fighting a former world heavyweight champion, given he boxed a 58-year-old Mike Tyson – and won on points – in November. But Joshua is a different prospect altogether, even coming off a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September.

Jake Paul in first official meeting over Anthony Joshua fight after making amends with Saudi boxing boss Turki Alalshikh | The Sun

JUST IN: Jake Paul accepts ludicrous terms to fight Anthony Joshua during Turki Alalshikh meeting

Joshua recently underwent surgery due to an elbow injury and, according to his promoter Eddie Hearn, may have further physical issues to address. As such, Joshua’s next move is up in the air.

But Turki Alalshikh, the Saudi adviser behind the Gulf nation’s aggressive entry into boxing in recent years, has now addressed a potential clash between Joshua, 35, and Paul, 28.

“Me and [Jake Paul] are thinking [about] doing him against Anthony Joshua now,” Alalshikh told The Ring, a magazine that he owns. “If Joshua destroys him, it will be good for me; the headache of Jake Paul is finished. If Jake wins, I will know Joshua is finished and Jake deserves a ranking and a future in boxing. Jake accepted it, next week I will talk with Joshua about it.”

Within those words, Alalshikh was referring to the fact that Paul is now a ranked cruiserweight per the WBA.

The Saudi adviser and the American influencer have traded barbs from afar in recent months, with Alalshikh taking issue with Paul’s matchmaking in his own bouts.

Paul was on the verge of signing a fight with modern great Saul “Canelo” Alvarez earlier this year, but Alalshikh was able to thwart that contest and get the Mexican to sign a four-bout deal with Riyadh Season. Canelo has already fought once under that deal, beating William Scull to regain undisputed status at super-middleweight – a status that he will defend against multi-weight champion Terence Crawford in September.

Could that leave Paul to square off with Joshua? Potentially, although Paul seems to resent the idea that Alalshikh would be involved. The YouTuber-turned-boxer appeared to address the situation on Thursday (17 July), when he wrote on X/Twitter: “I will do what I want, with who I want, when I want, in the boxing ring.

“Anyone, anytime, anyplace. You rodents talk so much s*** but when I want to take on the biggest challenges you start having panic attacks and deciding my demise.”

Hearn told Pro Boxing Fans last week: “Yeah, I was with His Excellency [Alalshikh] yesterday, obviously he’d met Jake Paul. I think he would like to do it, you know, but it’s mad enough to happen.

“It’s not something we expected, it’s not something we’re targeting, [but] if it’s offered to us, I would be shocked if AJ didn’t accept it. Why wouldn’t you? The plan for us is to fight Tyson Fury next year, if we can squeeze in Jake Paul along the way and you guys want AJ to end this whole process, he’ll gladly do it.”

On Hearn’s rhetorical question: Why wouldn’t Joshua accept the fight? Paul’s boxing history shows that he can guarantee himself and his opponent an enormous payday, and AJ would naturally back himself to make short work of the American.

Paul is 12-1 as a professional with 7 KO wins, but he lost his most evenly-matched fight, suffering a points defeat by Tommy Fury (half-brother of Tyson Fury) in 2023.

Although Hearn endorses Joshua’s pursuits of a Tyson Fury fight and three-time world-champion status, the Matchroom boss would surely back Joshua to take the Paul bout. Hearn has had his own issues with the YouTuber in recent years, namely a defamation lawsuit against MVP that was settled out of court at the end of March.

And while Paul was unable to secure a fight with Canelo, he came remarkably close and was only undone by Alalshikh’s interference and Saudi money. This time, Alalshikh actively wants to make a Paul fight, if only to see the 28-year-old beaten.

Paul’s dealings with Canelo may actually be evidence that he could lock down a fight with Joshua, too. Paul spent years chasing Canelo, who dismissed the influencer as an unfairly easy opponent, and eventually an agreement was struck.

Paul vs Canelo was an unthinkable fight, until suddenly it wasn’t. The same can be said of Paul vs Joshua. The British public wants and arguably needs Joshua vs Fury, a generational domestic clash, now that the latter has come out of retirement yet again. Yet Paul vs Joshua might just be likelier than Joshua vs Fury. Imagine that.

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury remains the dream British super-fight, and Turki Alalshikh has reignited hopes of making it happen in 2026.

The influential Saudi advisor revealed plans to stage the all-British showdown next year, but only after both men return in separate tune-up fights to rebound from recent defeats.

Speaking to ThaBoxingVoice, Alalshikh explained the condition. The Ring Magazine boss is implementing a carefully crafted strategy to maximize anticipation and rebuild momentum for the heavyweight blockbuster.

The Saudi Strategy: A Tune-Up Road to the Super-Fight
“Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury next year, we are trying to do it and thinking about it. I need to have a tune-up fight for each one first. Why? Because they are both coming from losing. It’s to build it up.”

The comments mark Alalshikh’s most direct statement yet on the future of Joshua and Fury, who are both coming off setbacks to undisputed heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk and his Saturday opponent, Daniel Dubois.

Damaging losses
While Fury suffered a decision loss in December and retired soon afterward, Dubois took Joshua out in brutal fashion last September.

Saudi Arabia has hosted the biggest boxing spectacles of the past two years, and Alalshikh’s influence continues to shape the sport’s elite matchups.

However, a Fury vs Joshua collision at Wembley could become the crown jewel of the 2026 calendar.

For now, fans must wait as both fighters reset, with Alalshikh’s plan clear. Rebuild the road to one of the biggest fights in British boxing history.

If Usyk wins this weekend and drops any of his title belts, the collision may still have a chance of being a world title fight yet.

Jake Paul has proven he is serious about facing Anthony Joshua by accepting an incredibly low purse split for the crossover clash.

‘The Problem Child’ met with Saudi powerbroker Turki Alalshikh last week to discuss a possible fight with AJ.

Paul has set his sights on the former unified heavyweight champion after overcoming Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in his last outing.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer vowed to knock out Joshua during a lengthy rant on his podcast where he claimed the Watford powerhouse ‘doesn’t have a chin’.

This led to a phone call with the Olympic gold medallist, where both men verbally agreed to face each other in 2026.

Boxing mogul Alalshikh was then contacted to get involved with the fight.

And during a recent appearance on ‘Tha Boxing Voice’, he revealed that Paul had accepted his proposal for a 99-1 purse split in Joshua’s favour.

“I’m not against what Jake Paul’s doing in boxing, it’s good for boxing to have a young generation,” said Alalshikh.

“I’m against some kinds of fights he does. I’m now thinking him against Joshua. Joshua, if he destroys (Paul), it will be good for me.

“The headache of Jake Paul goes from my mind.

“If Jake Paul wins, I will know that Joshua is finished, and Jake Paul deserves his ranking and deserves to have a future in boxing.

“I don’t want 50-50. In this situation, I want 99-1.

Jake Paul has accepted. Now, next week I will talk with Joshua about it.”

If Paul signs for these terms, then Joshua will receive a 99 per cent lion’s share of the total prize pot.

Both men are commercial juggernauts in the boxing sphere, and the expectation is that they would demand a similar cut.

Paul pocketed $40million to fight Mike Tyson last November, but under Alalshikh’s terms, he wouldn’t come anywhere near that sum.

On the flip side, Joshua would bank one of the biggest purses in boxing history.

There will undoubtedly be serious money on the line for the fight, and with a 99 per cent share, Joshua could make eight figures.
