Gervonta Davis found himself in hot water again after he was arrested on July 11 in Miami Beach on charges of assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

Reports emerged that Davis slapped his former girlfriend in the face and hit her on the back of the head which left her with a cut inside her lip. Her mother also recorded a video where the WBA lightweight champion was seen throwing objects at the victim.

The incident occurred on Father’s Day, June 15, when Davis went to pickup his children from his exes home in Coral Gables. The former couple shares two children together.

Davis was released on bail Saturday morning and cameras were there to capture the first images of him since his arrest. He was seen walking out covering his face with a t-shirt, while multiple police officers escorted him to a vehicle, which can be viewed below.

Fans have reacted on social media to his arrest and release, with many taking a firm stance against it.

However, Davis still had some supporters in his corner.

Although Gervonta Davis is one of the biggest superstars in boxing, he’s certainly no role model outside the ring, often finding himself in trouble with the law. And this most recent incident put his rematch against Lamont Roach in jeopardy.

Their first encounter ended in a majority draw as ‘Tank’ took a deliberate knee but didn’t have a knockdown scored against him. Considering the controversy surrounding the fight, the rematch is massive for both fighters. Roach has claimed that the fight is still on course despite the recent turn of events.

Anthony Joshua will have been out of the ring for over 12 months by the time he returns.

The former two-time champion was last seen competing in September 2024 when he was stopped inside five rounds by young IBF champion Daniel Dubois.

That came after a period of rebuilding following two back-to-back losses in 2021 and 2022 to Oleksandr Usyk, which left Joshua without any of his three world title belts.

Right now, he is out recovering from minor elbow surgery but will soon be back in the ring and looking for an appropriate opponent.

Speaking to JackPotCity, former WBO heavyweight champion and current interim champion Joseph Parker was asked about the fight he would like most, and he went with the man who beat him back in 2018.

“I would most like to avenge the AJ fight because back in 2018 I was a very different fighter to the fighter I am now, and AJ is a different fighter as well. He’s been the poster boy for boxing and he’s brought a lot of attention to boxing, and I’d like to avenge that loss. I would love the opportunity to fight Joshua. I think he’s had some surgery, and he’s looking to come back again, so if that opportunity arises, I’ll take it with both hands, and it’ll be a great fight. If he’s still motivated and passionate about boxing, he should keep going. If that’s what he wants to do. He’s still got a lot to give.”

A rematch between these two would be a good fight for both at this stage. Parker holds the interim WBO strap and is keen to push on for a world title and Joshua is in need of getting back to winning ways and proving he still has plenty left and big ambitions of his own.

Parker, as mandatory for the full belt, is first in the rotation of challengers to face the winner of Usyk and Dubois’ upcoming undisputed contest. If the Ukrainian wins, there is a chance he decides to vacate the belts, meaning Parker could soon be elevated or fighting for the belt. Joshua would do well to keep him in his sights.

Renowned trainer Eddy Reynoso has fiercely defended his reputation after being dragged into the doping scandal involving Mexican fighter Francisco “Chihuas” Rodriguez.

Rodriguez analytically tested positive for a banned substance following his stunning win over Olympic gold medalist Galal Yafai in June, as revealed by Matchroom Boxing.

Hours before, a photo emerged of Reynoso alongside Rodriguez, and speculation exploded online. As the image went viral, some falsely suggested the coach was involved in the boxer’s preparation.

Reynoso’s Full Statement
Reynoso, known for masterminding the rise of Canelo Alvarez, responded directly to the allegations on Thursday with a full statement under his “No Boxing, No Life” brand.

“Given the recent comments and speculations about my relationship with boxer Francisco ‘Chihuas’ Rodriguez, it is pertinent to make the following clear:

“First and foremost, I am not Francisco’s coach or manager, whom I had the pleasure of meeting in person just yesterday.

“The support he received was through the promotion and sponsorship of the No Boxing No Life brand, which arranged three fights with Clase y Talento to help him achieve a championship fight.”

Denying Guilt by Association
On the guilty by association allegations, Reynoso added, “I have dedicated almost my entire life to boxing because it is my passion and reason for being; everything I have achieved has been through sacrifice, discipline, and dedication.

“In the way we supported Francisco, we have supported many fighters, and we will continue to do so until God allows us to.

“Regarding the positive test result in his recent fight, it will be Francisco who will have to make the pertinent clarifications regarding the same.

“I had no participation of any kind in that fight, nor was I present at it; therefore, I will not comment on it. To Francisco, all our support, and that he may overcome this obstacle.”

Prior Doping Links
Having links to five boxers who have tested positive, Reynoso’s reputation is taking a beating. Rodriguez follows Jaime Munguia, Julio Cesar Martinez, Ryan Garcia, and Canelo Alvarez himself.

Reynoso is making it clear he had nothing to do with Chihuas’ preparations.

“I consider it unfair that for appearing in a photo supporting Francisco Rodriguez, they want to hold me responsible for situations outside of my work.

“In my position as a trainer or manager, I have nothing to do with my fighters’ nutrition plans. I don’t cook for the fighters, I don’t buy their food, I don’t give them supplements, I don’t recommend supplements, and I certainly don’t give them banned substances.

“I support drug testing and clean boxing, and I hope that everyone I work with shares the same values.

“I am very grateful to the professional media that have investigated in depth and that have reported the facts about me,” he concluded.

Supporting Anti-doping
Reynoso’s statement is an apparent attempt to distance himself from any implication that his gym culture condones or promotes performance-enhancing drug use.

His reference to “clean boxing” reaffirms his long-standing position in support of anti-doping measures and VADA testing.

As of now, Rodriguez remains under investigation, with the result of the bout against Yafai hanging in the balance.

Doral, Florida’s Local 10 reports that WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis was arrested this morning after allegedly battering the mother of two of his children last month.

Police said Davis went to the victim’s home to pick up their children for Father’s Day, but a verbal altercation between him and the victim ensued, which escalated to a physical altercation.

According to the report, Davis told his ex-girlfriend to remove their children from his car as he no longer intended to take them, but when she leaned forward to retrieve their daughter from the backseat, Davis struck her in the back of the head and then slapped her in the face, causing a minor cut to the inner area of her lip.

Police said the victim then sent a text message to her mother, informing her that Davis was assaulting her and asking her to come outside.

The victim’s mother then exited the residence and saw her daughter visibly distressed and crying while arguing with Davis, the report stated.

According to the report, the victim’s mother filmed part of the altercation on her cellphone, which showed Davis throwing a small box at the victim.

Is Lamont Roach Jr A Legitimate Threat To Gervonta Davis? | Boxing News

JUST IN: Lamont Roach Reacts To Gervonta Davis Arrest As Rematch Thrown Into Doubt

Davis (30-0-1, 28 KO) has spent nearly a decade in trouble with the law for various reasons, most notably pleading guilty to a 2022 hit-and-run that left a pregnant woman injured and subsequently violating the terms of his house arrest. This marks his third arrest for allegedly assaulting a woman.

It is long past time to cut bait on this guy. Years of facing no consequences for his actions have made him a consistent and unrepentant danger to others. Scrap the Roach rematch and enforce some accountability for once.

Lamont Roach Jr has spoken out after news of Gervonta Davis‘ most recent arrest.

It was reported today that Davis was arrested in Florida on the morning of Friday, July 11 for allegedly assaulting his ex-partner outside her home on June 15. ‘Tank’ is still on a period of probation from a previous hit-and-run incident.

This latest development on the personal life of Davis throws into doubt his boxing future, which was set to continue with a rematch against Roach after their controversial first meeting in March of this year.

Roach, a big betting underdog, put in a stellar performance, trading with ‘Tank’ in an attempt to win his WBA Lightweight World Title. The champion took a knee in the ninth round but was not given a count by the referee. If he was, and the cards remained the same for the other rounds, Roach would have won a decision rather than the majority draw result that saw Davis retain his belt.

Their highly-anticipated rematch had been pencilled in for August 16 but was lacking an official announcement, leading many in the sport to speculate that it would either be pushed or canned entirely.

Roach took to X after news of his rival’s arrest. First, he posted the message, “what I tell y’all?” alongside a video clip accusing Davis of being scared. He former super-featherweight world champion then followed up with:

“In all seriousness hopefully buddy ain’t do that, I don’t wish jail on no n***a, I don’t give a f**k if I don’t like you or not.”

More news on Davis’ situation is expected soon.

Along with being arguably the best fighter on the planet, Oleksandr Usyk is also one of the happiest and most likeable.

The two-weight world champion remains undefeated in the ring. He turned over after taking gold in the London Olympics in 2012, and by 2018 had beaten all comers to become the undisputed cruiserweight champion.

After that, he moved up to the banner division, settled in with wins over the likes of Derek Chisora, then stepped in with two-time unified champion Anthony Joshua.

The Ukrainian was barely troubled across two 12-round fights and came out with three of the four world titles. After a stoppage win over Daniel Dubois in 2023, he beat Tyson Fury in May 2024 to become undisputed at heavyweight, then repeated the result in the rematch last December.

Speaking to DAZN, he was asked about one fighter he really disliked even after the final bell, and did not hesitate to answer.

“My weakness is I love people, I love my opponent. Only one of my opponents I don’t love. It’s Marco Huck. Bad guy, because this man says bad words about my mama. It’s bad.”

Usyk beat Huck in September 2017 in the quarter-final of the World Boxing Super Series to retain his WBO cruiserweight title.

The build-up contained some bad blood between the two men, helping to explain why Usyk may still not be fond of his former rival.

Later this month, the Ukrainian rematches Dubois with all four major belts on the line. Should he win, he will be the first man in boxing history to ever become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion in the four belt era.

Terence Crawford has sent a scathing message to a potential future rival.

The 37-year-old switch-hitter from Omaha, Nebraska is just shy of 40-fights into his exceptional professional career, which began way back in 2008.

Crawford has already won world titles across four weight divisions, as well as capturing the undisputed championship at super-lightweight and welterweight, becoming the first male fighter of all time to achieve this feat within the ‘four belt era’.

JUST IN: Andy Ruiz Jr flaunts epic body transformation as Anthony Joshua conqueror teases comeback

He is just two months away from arguably the toughest test of his career as he prepares to challenge Mexican great Canelo Alvarez for the undisputed super-middleweight championship. Their highly anticipated ‘mega-fight’ takes place on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Speaking on the Cigar Talk Podcast, Crawford discussed the possibility of a future showdown with lightweight star Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, as he claims the 30-year-old world champion ‘would never’ make the move up in weight to face him.

“Tank would never. He would never even think about to come up to 154.”

‘Bud’ was then asked if he believes Davis would move up to welterweight, should the opportunity present itself.

“Yes, if he gets to pick his opponent, but Tank would never go from 35 to 54.”

Davis currently reigns as the WBA world lightweight champion, with the next defence of his crown set to come against Lamont Roach Jr in their highly anticipated rematch.

The pair locked horns for the first time back in March as they fought to a close split decision draw at the Barclays Center in New York City. It is being speculated that the rematch will take place in Las Vegas on August 16.

Andy Ruiz Jr has slimmed down significantly in preparation for a return to the ring.

The Mexican-American puncher hasn’t boxed since last August when he was held to a disputed majority draw by Jarrell Miller in Los Angeles.

However, he is now training and dieting again.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Ruiz Jr posted a picture of some food prep, with the caption: “Gotta start now and only eat protein for 3 weeks.

“Getting ready before fight camp.”

‘The Destroyer’ then followed up his post with a shirtless snap, devoid of his famous gut.

“Slow but surely,” he wrote underneath. “Work in progress…”

Ruiz Jr usually operates between 255lbs and 265lbs, but for his last bout with Miller, he came in at 274lbs – his second heaviest weight to date.

The 35-year-old looked sluggish and was fortunate to scrape a draw.

Yet judging from recent pictures, he looks to be boiling down to his ideal fight weight as he starts the arduous climb back to the top.

Ruiz Jr tipped the scales at 268lbs when he stunned the boxing world by snatching the unified WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles from Anthony Joshua in June 2019.

He is seemingly on the verge of mounting a comeback and looks to be in great shape

The heavy underdog stepped in on five weeks’ notice to replace Miller after the American failed a trio of drug tests and dropped AJ three times en route to a shocking seventh-round knockout win.

A rematch was then booked for December, and while Joshua took himself away from all of the external distractions and left no stone unturned in training, Ruiz Jr’s camp was less than ideal.

Ruiz Jr admits he spent three months partying and celebrating his career-best win, leading to 15lbs of weight gain.

The stocky boxer came in at a whopping 283.5lbs for their sequel and laboured to a wide unanimous decision loss.

“I don’t want to say the three months of partying or celebrating didn’t affect me, as to tell you the truth, it kind of did,” Ruiz said in the immediate aftermath.

“There’s no excuses. The partying got the best of me. The next fight is going to be a lot different.”

Ruiz Jr never got his trilogy bout with Joshua, despite his best efforts, while his career has stagnated since their second meeting.

The former heavyweight world champion has only fought three times in the last six years: a pair of wins over Chris Arreola and Luis Ortiz and the aforementioned draw with Miller.

Oleksandr Usyk (23-0-0, 14 KOs) is a modern-day legend who has become the undisputed champion in both the cruiserweight and heavyweight weight divisions.

He’s only the third male fighter, after Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue, to achieve this extraordinary feat. He’s has had a career full of achievements, and in 2018, was named Sports Illustrated’s Fighter of the Year.

The Ukrainian boasts spectacular wins against the likes of Anthony Joshua (twice) and Tyson Fury (twice), and is the consensus greatest heavyweight of the modern era. Usyk returns to action on July 19, taking on Daniel Dubois in a rematch at Wembley Stadium in London. With a win, he could once again become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

Apart from his boxing skills, Usyk is quite the character outside the ring. He is a man of many skills and even some hardcore boxing fans might not know some of these facts about Oleksandr Usyk.

Here aref ive interesting things about the 38-year-old Ukrainian.

1. Usyk is an Olympic gold medalist

Long before winning the undisputed titles in professional boxing, Oleksandr Usyk represented Ukraine in the 2012 London Olympics, winning the gold medal in the heavyweight category. Usyk’s future opponent, Anthony Joshua, was also a gold medalist in London 2012, albeit in super heavyweight.

Notably, Usyk also competed in the Beijing Olympics, winning the silver medal in 2008. Usyk started his professional career in 2013 and has never looked back since.

2. Usyk played professional soccer before boxing

Boxing has made Usyk a global superstar. However, his athletic career started as a soccer player before he switched to the sweet science back in 2002. Usyk trained with Ukrainian club SC Tavriya Simferopol at a young age.

He returned to Soccer in 2022, training with and even playing for FC Polissya Zhytomyr.

3. Usyk had an extended amateur career

Oleksandr Usyk was a renowned name on the boxing circuit long before turning professional. He had an extended amateur career, managing to amass an impressive record of 335-15. Following his gold medal win in the London 2012 Olympics, Usyk became a professional boxer.

4. Usyk competed in the World Series of Boxing

For a smooth transition from amateur to professional, Oleksandr Usyk competed in the 2012-13 World Series of Boxing. He took part in the heavyweight division and won all of his six fights, with two of those coming by stoppage and four by unanimous decision.

Usyk defeated Junior Fa, Eric Brechlin, Joe Joyce, Magomedrasul Majidov, Matteo Modugno and Mihai Nistor.

5. Usyk co-starred with The Rock

Oleksandr Usyk’s talents are not limited to the boxing ring, as the Ukrainian has made several appearances in movies as well. The Fight Rules, A Tale As Old As Time, Reignited- Can’t Get You Out of My Head, and most recently The Smashing Machine are among the movies he’s appeared in.

Usyk co-starred with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in the MMA film The Smashing Machine.

Terence Crawford is preparing for the biggest fight of his career, moving up two weight classes to take on undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.

But an old sparring video is once again sparking debate about his chances to win the mega-fight.

The video shows Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) and current WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames going head-to-head, with Adames getting the better of “Bud” on several exchanges. Now it’s being used by critics as a way to question Crawford’s move to 168 lbs from his current division, 154 lbs.

READ: “He Really Might Pull Out”: Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach Rematch In Jeopardy

The video reportedly dates back to when Crawford was a lightweight (135 lbs), which is a division he hasn’t fought at since 2014. Adames (24-1-1, 18 KOs) was fighting at welterweight (147 lbs) at the time, meaning there was at least a 12 lbs difference between the two boxers.

Despite the video being recorded a long time ago, critics use it as pinning point to why Crawford’s size won’t translate to super-middleweight. “Bud’s” last fight was Aug. 3rd, 2024, where he beat Israil Madrimov by unanimous decision to win the WBA junior middleweight title, his first fight at 154 lbs. Now, he is jumping up 14 more pounds to fight the cash cow of boxing.

Although he has critics, many supporters have defended Crawford, pointing out that sparring sessions don’t really emulate a real fight. Not to mention that sparring is usually the time for fighters to practice and implement new arsenals to their game.

The video may add fuel to the haters, but realistically it’s not a representation of Crawford’s odds against Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs). And on top of that, “Bud” is the rare breed of special boxers that could adapt to any scenario he’s put in. He’s not the No. 3 pound-for-pound in the Ring Magazine rankings for no reason.

Canelo vs Crawford is a fight that mixes the entertainment value of Riyadh Season with the narrative of the best fighting the best. Whatever happens Sept. 13th, let’s hope it lives up to the hype.
