Serena Williams Causes Stir With Complaint About Hotel’s Cotton Plant Decoration

Serena Williams courted curiosity after calling out what appears to be a hotel for its cotton plant decoration.

In an Instagram story she shared Thursday, the camera approaches the arrangement as Williams says, “All right, everyone, how do we feel about cotton as a decoration? Personally for me, it doesn’t feel great.”

In another story, she holds a piece of the cotton in her gloved hand. “So actually it feels like nail polish remover cotton,” she says, wiping her nails before making a cringing gesture.

Multipleoutlets covered the post as some of the obvious questions remained unanswered by the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion herself: Was she merely criticizing a design aesthetic or suggesting the cotton plant carried historical implications of racism?

HuffPost is attempting to reach her through multiple channels for comment.

Meanwhile, the internet is abuzz.

THROWBACK: How Tiger Woods’ relationship with Vanessa Trump got exposed: ‘Didn’t exactly love it’

Tiger Woods tried to keep his relationship with Vanessa Trump secret for as long as he could, according to the Daily Mail.

The golf legend hard-launched their relationship Sunday after rumors spread through the Benjamin School in Palm Beach — a private institution where Vanessa’s daughter Kai, 17, and Woods’ son Charlie, 16, and daughter Sam, 17, are enrolled — a member of the golfer’s inner circle said.

“He knew it would be a huge story when it came out and he didn’t exactly love it,” the insider said. “But obviously Tiger dating a Trump is always going to make headlines, which is exactly what he wanted to avoid.”

The Benjamin School is a private institution with a $38,595 tuition for grades 9-12.

Earlier this month, Woods supported Sam, a captain on the varsity girls soccer team, as the Buccaneers defeated the Episcopal School of Jacksonville, 1-0, to win the Florida 2A FHSAA state championship.

“Benjamin is like a small community and there’s nothing that rich people like to do more than gossip about each other. Frankly, I’m surprised that it was secret for so long,” the source told the Daily Mail.

Woods, 49, and Vanessa, 47, reportedly avoided going out in public together and discussing their relationship with friends in order to keep things private.

“They just quietly did their thing,” the source added. “But Tiger isn’t one to get kissy or handsy in public anyway.”

On Sunday, Woods announced their relationship on social media, including photos of the couple, and asked the public for privacy.

“Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together. At this time we would appreciate privacy to all those close to our hearts,” Woods posted across his social channels.

Vanessa also reposted the message on her Instagram Story.

Woods and Vanessa had been the subjects of romance buzz for some time before he confirmed it.

Vanessa and daughter Kai, who committed to the University of Miami’s golf team last summer, supported Woods at various events in recent months, including the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, Calif., on Feb. 16.

The Post confirmed Woods and Vanessa are taking things slow after their friendship blossomed into “something more.”

Vanessa was married to Donald Trump Jr. from 2005-18, and they have five children together.

Woods’ past infidelity scandal with his ex-wife, Swedish model Elin Nordegren, led to their divorce in 2010 after six years of marriage.

‘It is not true’ – Turki Alalshikh dismisses claims he will buy EFL club

Turki Alalshikh has taken to social media to deny claims that he is set to buy Bristol City.

Alalshikh, who is the chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, is responsible for bringing some of sport’s biggest events to his homeland.

In recent years, boxing, MMA, WWE, Formula 1 and LIV Golf have all become regular fixtures in the Saudi sporting calendar.

JUST IN: 10 things we now know about Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis

With the 2034 World Cup also set to take place in the land, it seems Alalshikh has further plans to invest in football.

Is Turki Alalshikh investing in football?

Earlier this summer, Alalshikh was rumoured to looking for a way into the English game.

This was then confirmed by talkSPORT’s Simon Jordan, who revealed the businessman was interested in buying either of Championship sides Southampton and Millwall.

The billionaire was also spotted commenting on a post from the Lions’ main social media channel.

Jordan confirmed he had even offered his advice to the Saudi boxing chief, having also suggested he consider investing in Sheffield Wednesday.

Speaking in May, Jordan said: “I’ve told him and tried to talk him out of Millwall because I don’t think it’s a proper football club, but that’s a different discussion.

“But it is Millwall, and he likes Southampton. I suggested Sheffield Wednesday to him. He doesn’t want Sheffield Wednesday.”

But with no further progress being made on this front, Alalshikh then found himself linked Bristol City earlier this month.

Journalist Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon that the boxing promoter was preparing a bid to purchase the Robins from the Lansdown family.

Simon Jordan previously confirmed Alalshikh was looking into investing in English football

But Alalshikh has quickly shut these rumours down, as he took to social media to clear things up.

He wrote on X: “It is not true that I will buy Bristol City FC.”

Even after the 43-year-old’s comments, it arguably isn’t surprising that to hear that Bristol City won’t be changing owners any time soon.

In February, long-time chairman Steve Lansdown played down any potential takeover at Ashton Gate, claiming it was ‘not close’.

On paper, it isn’t hard to see why potential investors would be considering City.

The Reds made it to the Championship play-off semi-finals last term, but missed out on Wembley after a heavy defeat to Sheffield United.

They have made a strong start to this season, and currently sit third in the second tier with 11 points from their opening six games.

Gerhard Struber’s side have lost just once so far, with their first defeat coming against Oxford United at Ashton Gate last weekend.

With Alalshikh now distancing himself from rumours linking him with the club, City will be looking to put in a strong performance this weekend in their league match against Preston North End.

Alexis Ohanian says he’s perfectly fine with being known as ‘Serena Williams’ husband’, even though he’s made a name for himself and forged a successful career of his own.

Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit and a self-made millionaire, was responding to fans on social media when he made the confession.

“I love how you don’t mind that they call you Serena Williams’ husband,” one follower wrote on Twitter.

To which Ohanian replied: “I’ll be a self-made billionaire one day and most people will still know me as Serena’s husband (or Olympia’s dad) and that’s fine by me.”

Williams and Ohanian have been married since 2017.

Ohanian and Alexis are often spotted in Williams’ courtside box, most recently at the Australian Open where he was seen wearing a shirt reading ‘Greatest female athlete’ with ‘female’ crossed out.

Ohanian recently revealed how he didn’t like watching tennis before he met his wife.

“I hated tennis for a long time, until I met my wife and tried to learn it,” he told CNN in December.

“I am always a sports fan and when I watched a final closely I understood the privilege I had.

“Now I appreciate the world of tennis, I understand how the world of tennis is a difficult and intense world.

“In the world of technology we work very and really hard, but we have been naive since the work done by a professional tennis player, both physically and mentally, is absolutely on another level.”

Ohanian said he now considers it a privilege to be able to take his daughter to watch Williams in action.

“I sat in the front row to see everything Serena does, to understand her role in the world and I discovered how different she is from others,” he said.

“I know how much she has worked for everything, not only as a woman but also as a black woman.

“At the same time Olympia will never question all the great work her mother has done and one day I will explain it to her, but I want to make her understand that I do my part too.”

Serena Williams’ candid confession about marriage

Last month, Williams made the candid admission that her marriage with Ohanian is “not bliss” without work.

In a Q&A with Bumble, the tennis superstar opened up on marriage and matrimony.

When asked the most surprising thing she learned about marriage, the 39-year-old replied with a laugh: “Marriage is not bliss”.

“But it can be if you work at it,” she added.

The 23-time grand slam champion added during the Q&A that “a dealbreaker for me in a relationship is definitely loyalty. Well, not having it, that is.”

She also said: “I always knew I wanted kids.

“I never knew when but I always knew I wanted kids at some point.

Serena Williams turns heads in Kim Kardashian’s NikeSKIMS sportswear debut

Serena Williams is one of 50 athletes stepping in to help Kim Kardashian launch her Skims collaboration with Nike.

After several months of anticipation, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star is set to release the NikeSKIMS line on Friday, September 26.

The new line will include 10,000 unique mix-and-match activewear looks in four collections, Matte, Shine, Airy, and Vintage Seamless. The gym-ready designs were created with varying levels of support and flow using Nike’s Dri-FIT technology and SKIMS’ sculpting ability.

On Monday afternoon, Williams, 43, shared a marketing plug on Instagram showing off Kardashian’s new line, which includes trendy leggings, form-fitting sports bras, and bike shorts.

She captioned the post, “I feel unstoppable when I’m training in NikeSKIMS. NikeSKIMS arrives September 26th.”

The 23-time Grand Slam winner included a carousel of photos in the post, showing off herself modeling the new designs.

In one IG snap, the tennis star’s sporting a brown crop top and matching leggings with the Nike swoosh and “SKIMS” monogrammed on the back. In another photo, she’s sitting on the floor wearing a one-piece form-fitting piece of activewear.

Williams is also featured on the NikeSKIMS website where she raves about the brand, saying the fabric on the clothing, “feels like butter on your skin.”

Kardashian and NikeSkims has recruited several other female pro athletes to star in the campaign, including Jordan Chiles, Sha’Carri Richardson, Madisen Skinner, Chloe Kim, Nelly Korda, and Romane Dicko.

It’s not surprising that Kardashian is entering the sportswear market, as she’s frequently spotted working on her own fitness journey.

In an interview with “Vogue” over the weekend, she admitted that, “I love to workout. It’s my therapy.”

“To me it just made sense,” she said. “Skims is very body-oriented—we do swimwear, loungewear, shapewear—so our next evolution was that we really wanted to do activewear. Our dream was to work with Nike: Their legacy, innovation, and athlete insights—it was the perfect thing to mix with Skims, and our dedication to the female form.”

Kardashian describes her new line as “versatile” and says it was important to offer pieces that can fit into a woman’s busy lifestyle.

“You can wear some of the pieces out at night and look really great, or there’s super casual pieces strictly for working out,” she said. “I wanted people to feel like there was something for everyone.”

The NikeSKIMS line will be available in sizes XXS to 4X, with prices ranging from $38 to $148.

Vanessa Trump and Tiger Woods’ relationship timeline amid rumors she dated Secret Service agent.

Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr. , has moved on from her 13-year marriage with a number of unanswered questions about an alleged affair she had during their union.

She’s found new love with golf legend Tiger Woods, and rumors are swirling about them moving in together and possibly even getting hitched.

Since they made their relationship public at the beginning of the year, Trump and Woods have tried to keep their private lives under wraps. However, there’s been plenty of chatter about their past relationships, including Trump’s dating history. The news follows Tiger Woods and Vanessa Trump’s ‘wedding plans’ slammed as ‘publicity stunt’.

Woods isn’t the only big name that’s been linked to the 47 year old socialite. She’s reportedly dated everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio to a Saudi prince.

But it’s the speculation about potential infidelity during her marriage to Don Jr. that’s raised eyebrows, especially since these rumors surfaced years after their split in 2021, reports the Irish Star.

In her book “Zero Fail: The Rise and Fall of the Secret Service,” published in May 2021, journalist Carol Leonnig claims that “Secret Service agents reported that Vanessa Trump had begun dating one of the agents who had been assigned to her family.”

The timeline of this alleged affair is unclear, but it’s worth noting that Don Jr. asked to terminate his family’s Secret Service protection in September 2017, against the agency’s advice.

According to Leonnig, the Secret Service agent involved faced no repercussions because the affair only came to light after the agency had stopped working for the family.

Last month, it was revealed that Trump had promised her children she wouldn’t start a new relationship until they were grown, following her split from their father.

“When her youngest Chloe turned 10, that’s when she opened her heart to find someone new,” an insider told the Daily Mail. “None of them objected to her dating, and in fact, they all love Tiger. That’s why it got so serious, so fast – her kids love him, his kids love her.”

Around the same time, another source told RadarOnline.com that Woods and Trump are eyeing the White House as the ideal place to get hitched.

While the PGA Tour star has a famously close relationship with President Trump, who at age 79 revealed in late March that Woods had reached out to him about his relationship with his ex-daughter-in-law and received his blessing, many have raised eyebrows.

Not only do some find it odd for President Trump to invite his son’s ex-wife into the White House to marry another man, but many are puzzled as to why Woods would choose such a location to wed his new flame.

Iga Swiatek’s ‘shocked’ admission as she’s asked about Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova reunion

Iga Swiatek admits she was both “shocked” and “happy” to see Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova together, following a reunion that left the tennis world stunned.

Many were left in disbelief when Williams made a surprise appearance at Sharapova’s Hall of Fame induction last weekend, with the American introducing the Russian ahead of her acceptance speech.

Arguably the two biggest WTA stars of their generation, and maybe the biggest stars in women’s tennis history, Williams and Sharapova were known to have a tense and frosty relationship.

Despite Williams dominating their head-to-head, winning 20 of their 22 clashes, the pair’s matches always attracted huge attention and hype, meeting in four Grand Slam finals.

Signs of the two’s improving relationship have emerged in recent years, with the pair pictured together at the Met Gala previously.

However, few would have predicted Williams to describe Sharapova, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame five years on from her retirement, as her “forever friend” on such a big stage.

And, it wasn’t just tennis fans who were surprised, with six-time Grand Slam champion Swiatek also left in shock by the two’s reconciliation.

Speaking after her comfortable opening-round win at the US Open, the world No 2 opened up on why it was so “great” to see the two form a strong bond.

“Honestly, it’s great,” said Swiatek.

“It’s a shame, obviously, that it didn’t happen before when they were on tour together.

“I just thought that their relationship was so tense that I’m just shocked that they managed to work through it.

“I guess if you have good intentions, you can work through everything, you know. So for sure I’m happy to see that.

“I think having that appreciation from your biggest rival, it must be a great feeling. So Maria also deserves that, and Serena, she’s great. So they’re both great.

“I was just happy to see them together, because I feel like we all should be kind of united and going towards one goal as players, even though we’re competing against each other, and that’s one of the examples of that.”

Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, will be eligible for induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2024, five years on from her 2022 retirement.

Considered by many to be the greatest female player of all time, the 43-year-old is a shoo-in to be inducted, though Swiatek herself is all but guaranteed the honour once her playing career is over.

Aged 24, the Pole will likely still have many more years left on tour, though she is already a six-time Grand Slam champion with 125 weeks as the world No 1.

Swiatek is searching for her seventh Grand Slam title, and second straight major, at the US Open this fortnight, and is many people’s favourite to win what would be her second title in New York.

Champion at this tournament back in 2022, second seed Swiatek will face Suzan Lamens in second-round action on Thursday.

THROWBACK: Novak Djokovic’s wife makes marriage confession after John McEnroe TV accusation

Novak Djokovic has already sealed legendary status in the world of tennis, having become the most successful tennis player in the history of the men’s game

The Serb has amassed 24 Grand Slam titles during his glittering career; a tally that surpasses Rafael Nadal (22) and Roger Federer.

He was also the first man to hold all four major titles at once, but there is clearly room for more.

The 38-year-old is bidding to win his eighth Wimbledon title, which would see him equal Federer as the most successful men’s player at the Championships.

Such an incredible career has unsurprisingly been a huge boost to his bank balance, while it’s also come with plenty of off-court rumours.

Novak Djokovic net worth

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Djokovic crossed the $150m (£110m) mark for prize money after his win at Wimbledon in 2021. In June 2023, victory at the French Open pushed his career on-court earnings past $170m (£125m).

Despite falling short in the Wimbledon final last year, his total on-court prize money had still grown to top $184m (£125m).

He is now expected to become the first ever player to surpass $200m (£147m) in career prize money by the end of the year – a record unlikely to be broken anytime soon.

But while his numerous tournament victories have done wonders for earning power, Djokovic’s overall net worth is much higher, with estimates placing his worth at around ($240m) £176.5m.

Indeed, a string of high-profile sponsorship deals have done wonders for helping to top up his already healthy income.

He was initially snapped up as a partner by Adidas, before being dropped by the company in 2009 in favour of Andy Murray.

Three years later, he signed a five-year deal with Uniqlo reportedly worth €8m a year. In that time, he arguably became the global face of tennis, and his success on the court brought more commercial success, amid deals with brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Seiko, and Head.

In 2017, he moved from Uniqlo to Lacoste, a partnership that still going strong, with Djokovic serving as the brand’s global ambassador and figure head for its athletic apparel division.

Between June 2017 and June 2018, he earned $24m (£17.6m) from salary and endorsements. That income jumped to $50m (£36m) between 2018 and 2019, followed by $45m (£33m) the following year.

Novak Djokovic’s wife opens up on marriage after McEnroe comments

Djokovic shares his substantial personal wealth with high school sweetheart Jelena.

After getting together in 2005, the pair tied the knot nine years later at the Aman Sveti Stefan Resort, a luxury hotel resort in Montenegro.

Jelena, 38, is a prominent businesswoman in her own right, and is the global CEO of the Novak Djokovic Foundation, which she co-founded with her husband.

She has previously often been seen courtside cheering her husband on at major tournaments.

However, her absence at Wimbledon in 2019, when she missed her husband’s games, sparked rumours about the state of their marriage.

Despite looking to clarify the matter, explaining it was down to Tara being too young to attend, speculation remained rife.

BBC pundit John McEnroe even started a rumour, suggesting a dip in the Serbian star’s form was due to “off-court issues with the family”.

McEnroe added: “The person that comes to mind immediately with Novak is not a tennis player, it’s actually a golfer: Tiger Woods. Woods had the issues with his wife and then he seemed to go completely off the rails.

“He’s never been even close to being the same player. So we’re starting to say: ‘Wait a minute, is this possible with him, Djokovic?'”

Djokovic hit back, saying: “He’s very well known for his kind of bold comments and not really caring too much about being politically correct but saying whatever is on his mind.

“He has his right to say the things he wants to say. I don’t necessarily need to agree with that. But it’s his right.”

Jelena has candidly spoken about the media scrutiny that come with being married to a high-profile athlete, confessing to Vesti-Online: “When you are young, the spotlight and attention certainly feel comfortable. At first, the experience does not alarm you because it can bring you some difficulties. We look at public figures and think that kind of publicity is OK.

“But as time goes on, you lack anonymity, you lack the privacy to be able to do whatever you like at any time, in any situation. I try to resist all these expectations to always be myself and for Novak to be able to be himself. That is probably why I am being criticised by the public ‘why didn’t I wear makeup’ or ‘why wasn’t I always wearing heels’.”

In a 2020 interview on In Depth with Graham Besinger, Jelena added she had been “judged” for not fitting into the stereotype of an athlete’s wife.

“I think this is going to be brave to say to millions of people watching,” she said. “But I was trying to compete with him because I felt like, ‘I’m also deserving and I’m not getting enough credit for what I’m doing because I’m doing it more in the backstage’. My ego was there battling also, an internal battle because I always felt like I can express so much more but I have to do it quietly.”

“Basically, as a woman, you are not allowed to speak up a lot, you are not allowed to show up a lot,” she expanded. “There is this stereotype about who is the wife of an athlete, how she should look like, how she should behave, and I don’t fit very well into that stereotype. I am glad I don’t because I don’t need to. But it was hard because I was judged because of it.”

Serena Williams Shows Off Her Hourglass Silhouette in Slinky Red Slip Dress After 31-Lb Weight Loss

Williams, 43, gave fans a look at her silhouette while wearing a floor-length dress on Wednesday, September 16. The tennis pro took to Instagram to share her look, which featured a sleeveless cherry red silk dress that hugged all her curves featuring a scoop neckline.

While posing in a library, Williams accessorized with silver pointed-toe kitten heels and a diamond tennis bracelet, as well as a coordinating necklace.

For glam, she donned smokey eyeshadow, bronzed cheeks, long lashes and lined, glossy lips. Williams’ highlighted mane was parted to the side and styled in neat curls.

Williams reflected on the past few months in her caption, writing alongside the pics, “My summer started out well but I was plunged into a difficult August. Like many of you, I faced challenges that tested my spirit and resilience.” She added a message about self-love, continuing, “I took some time away to breathe, to reconnect with myself, and to remember that it’s perfectly okay to pause and reconnect. Even if it’s just a quiet night to yourself. Anything counts.”

The Olympian cheekily added, “The only thing I’m dealing with in this moment here is how good this dress looks against first editions.”

Williams’ slinky look comes after she got candid about using a GLP-1 medication to lose weight.

“After having my second kid, I was never able to be at a healthy weight that I could be at, whether it was my joints or blood sugar levels,” she explained to Today last month. “It was just always something I suffered with, and a lot of women actually go through this.” (Williams shares daughters Alexis Olympia, 7, and Adira River, 13 months, with husband Alexis Ohanian.)

he noted that getting on the medication wasn’t “a shortcut” in her transformation.

“As an athlete and as someone that has done everything, I just couldn’t get my weight to where I needed to be at a healthy place,” the tennis sensation shared.“And, believe me, I don’t take shortcuts.”

After sitting down for several interviews to discuss her use of GLP-1 weight loss medication, Serena Williams is opening up about why she opted to try the drugs in the first place.

The four-time Olympic gold medalist joined the hosts of Today for a candid interview on Thursday, August 21, during which she explained that several of her family members had diabetes, thus leading her to consider taking a GLP-1.

“As an athlete and as someone that has done everything, I just couldn’t get my weight to where I needed to be at a healthy place, and believe me I don’t take shortcuts,” Williams said. “I do everything but shortcuts.”

The mom-of-two has dropped 31 pounds since starting the medication. She also cited knee pain as a motivation to lose weight. “I had a lot of issues with my knees, especially after I had my kid,” Williams said. “That, quite frankly, definitely had an effect on maybe some wins that I could have had in my career.”

Though Williams did not disclose which medication she was prescribed, the tennis champion is currently a paid spokesperson for the telehealth company Ro, whose GLP-1 offerings include Zepbound, Ozempic, and Wegovy.

“I was on and off (the medication) and now completely on,” she told Today. “It was a really good decision I had to make for my life, you know, I tried everything.”

Williams welcomed her first daughter Olympia in 2017 followed by her second, Adira, who was born in 2023. She shares her children with her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

“This all started after I had my (first) kid,” she recounted on Today. “As a woman, you go through different cycles in your life….No matter what I did—running, walking, I would walk for hours because they say that’s good, I literally was playing a professional sport—and I could never go back to where I needed to be for my health.”

She went on, “Then, after my second kid, it just even got harder. So then I was like, ‘Okay, I have to try something different.’ That’s kind of what led to this whole journey….Do I want to choose health? What do I want to do?”
