Inside Venus Williams and Andrea Preti’s stunning Italian wedding venue

Venus Williams has been one of the biggest tennis talking points of 2025, with the tennis icon making a surprise return to court this summer and impressing many with her level.

After picking up a stunning opening win in her first match back at the Citi D.C. Open, Williams then pushed top-15 star Karolina Muchova to three sets at the US Open, while reaching the quarter-final of the women’s doubles alongside Leylah Fernandez.

It has been a hugely significant year for the seven-time Grand Slam singles champion, and she revealed in July that she was engaged to Andrea Preti, a high-profile Italian actor — and it has now been reported by Ansa that the two are set to tie the knot imminently, with their wedding set to take place on Friday on the Italian island of Ischia.

Where is Ischia?

A stunning island off the Italian coast, Ischia is set to play host to Williams and Preti’s nuptials this Friday.

Venus Williams is set to get married in Ischia.

Located approximately 30 kilometres or 19 miles from Naples, the small island sits inside the Gulf of Naples, and is the largest of the Phlegrean Islands group.

The island is popular among tourists and visitors, with approximately 34 kilometres or 21 miles of coastline, and an overall area of 47 square kilometres.

Only around 20,000 people live on the island permanently, with the main town — named after the island itself — the largest of six communes on the island.

A mountainous island, Ischia is known for its stunning scenery and has plenty of attractions.

The main attraction is arguably the Arogonese Castle, a historic medieval castle connected to the main island by a stone bridge.

Other highlights on the island include the Grotto del Mago Cave, the La Mortella botanical gardens, and an array of attractive beaches.

However, Williams and Preti have reportedly picked out one stunning location to tie the knot at.

Where will Williams and Preti get married?

Williams and Preti are reportedly set to get married at the Lighthouse Punta Imperatore, a hotel on the southwest of the island.

As the name may well suggest, the building was initially a lighthouse and still functions as one for cruise ships and cargo ships heading to Naples, though it also now acts as an exclusive hotel.

Set on a 172m high cliff, the hotel has a roof terrace with a rooftop bar, a terrace for restaurants and events, and what the official website describes as a ‘romantic honeymoon terrace — something that may have proved a key attraction for the happy couple.

It is hardly a budget hotel, with the cheapest of the four rooms available for €360 per night.

According to Ansa, while the wedding will take place at the Lighthouse, the wedding party will then move to Lisola, a restaurant approximately 3.5 kilometres up the coast.

Opened in 2024, the restaurant is highly regarded in Italy and is recognised for its high-class Mediterranean cuisine.

The restaurant has been exclusively booked for the wedding, with several high-profile figures thought to be attending the nuptials.

How Serena Williams breaks the myth about her true personality off the court

When it comes to intensity and passion in tennis, few names shine as brightly as Serena Williams. Her competitive spirit and powerful strokes made her one of the most dominant players in history, defining an era in the sport. However, that same ferocity on the court also fueled a long-standing misconception about who Serena really is off it.

In the inaugural episode of Stockton Street, published on X, the American champion decided to clarify the biggest misunderstanding about her personality. During the conversation, Williams explained that many people labeled her as serious, aggressive, and distant in her private life, simply because she displayed unmatched intensity during her matches.

“For me, the biggest mistake is that people think I’m the same off the court as I am on it. I’ve always been intense, fierce, and passionate in tennis, but in reality I’m loving, I love to joke around and have fun with my family. I’m not as serious as many people think,”she confessed.

A cheerful and approachable Serena Williams

Far from the rigid image some still hold, a quick look at her social media reveals an authentic and joyful Serena. The former world number one often shares moments full of laughter with her daughters, friends, and family, showing that her essence goes far beyond the intensity she displayed with a racket in hand.

This isn’t the first myth the former tennis star has sought to debunk. Over the years, several misunderstandings have circulated about her and her inner circle, including her own father, Richard Williams.

King Richard and the vindication of Richard Williams

In 2021, the film King Richard, starring Will Smith, showed the world a different side of Richard Williams. Beyond the prejudices that painted him as a villain, the movie revealed his true role as a protector and driving force in the lives of Serena and Venus, highlighting the enormous family effort that propelled the sisters to the top of world tennis.

“It was essential to tell the truth: my father wasn’t the character many imagined. He was a constant support, along with my mother, and together they guided us in a sport that wasn’t always easy for us,” Serena recalled in a past interview.

The combination of her athletic career and the authenticity of her personal life solidify Serena Williams not only as a tennis icon, but also as an inspiring voice unafraid to break myths and show her true self. Today, with Stockton Street, she opens a new chapter to share untold stories and connect more closely with her followers

Serena Williams Shares Mysterious Post About ‘Difficult August’ and Focusing on Her Mental Health

Tennis legend Serena Williams is opening up about focusing on what’s most important after a “difficult August.”

The former professional tennis player and Olympic gold medalist, 43, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a quartet of photos featuring her dressed in a long, red silk dress and silver pointy-toed heels. With her long, blonde hair in curly tendrils, Williams stood in front of a massive bookshelf and opened up about “learning to let go.” The post comes less than a month after her announcement that she lost 31 pounds using a GLP-1 medication.

“Dearest gentle reader, My summer started out well but I was plunged into a difficult August. Like many of you, I faced challenges that tested my spirit and resilience. Life can sometimes feel overwhelming and it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters—your mental health and well-being. I took some time away to breathe, to reconnect with myself, and to remember that it’s perfectly okay to pause and reconnect. Even if it’s just a quiet night to yourself. Anything counts,” Williams wrote in the caption.

The athlete, who has two daughters, Alexis Olympia, 8, and Adira, 2, with husband Alexis Ohanian, continued by saying that she’s “learned that the end of a matter is better than its beginning. And even though things haven’t reached their end yet, I’m also learning to let go and live life one moment at a time. The only thing I’m dealing with in this moment here is how good this dress looks against first editions.”

Williams ended the post by asking her followers how their summer was, and adding the hashtag “Lady Serena of Stockton Street.”

Williams Has Spoken About the Challenges of Motherhood

In the past, Williams has opened up about her public image as a sports icon and how she doesn’t believe that’s a true representation of one’s worth. Instead, she has shared how she feels the real sign of being a star is being someone your children can count on.

“I feel like everybody’s a champion,” Williams told PEOPLE last year. “You don’t have to be winning Wimbledon or a gold medal to be a champion. Being a champion is really just being there for your kids. I think that’s a huge champion.”

But with a lot on her plate as an athlete, founder, spokesperson, and mother, Williams can get overwhelmed.

“Being a champion is understanding that you’re not going to be a champion every single day. There’s no way you can win every single day. I need to take this advice to myself,” she shared. “But it’s really just about giving your best effort in whatever you’re doing, just do the best that you can on that day. Some days, you will be able to make a better effort. Some days, just waking up is a big effort. You just have to give what you can on that day.”

LIV Golf star Phil Mickelson slams ‘disgusting rhetoric’ after Charlie Kirk assassination

LIV Golf star Phil Mickelson has been among the top sports figures to speak about the assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.

Kirk, 31, was shot and killed while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The shooting sparked a 33-hour manhunt and led to the arrest of Tyler Robinson in connection with the incident on Friday. Mickelson appeared to be keeping a close eye on the rhetoric that has been used in the days since Kirk’s killing.

“The assassination of Charlie Kirk is bringing out some of the best in humanity and it’s also exposing some of the worst,” he wrote on X in response to a statement from the president of the Oxford Union. “The unification, love, support, and outcry on his behalf throughout the world is heartwarming.

“The number of people supporting Tyler Robinson’s appalling behavior has opened my eyes to a side of extremism with a moral superiority complex that has also shaken my belief in people in general. I hope they are held accountable for their disgusting rhetoric.”

Mickelson also shared a post featuring one of Kirk’s debates. The talk with another student featured Kirk shutting down a college-aged man and his “hate” for billionaires like President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

“His ability to use words and his intellect to win debates is what scared them,” Mickelson wrote.

On Sunday, the NFL world honored Kirk with moments of silence before teams played their games. There were only a handful of teams not to have a moment to pay tribute to Kirk.

Phil Mickelson draws massive online response for attacking liberal reaction to Charlie Kirk murder

Once criticized for whitewashing Saudi Arabia’s human-rights record, Phil Mickelson has seized the moral high ground on social media by attacking critics of Charlie Kirk in the aftermath of the conservative influencer’s murder in Utah.

‘The assassination of Charlie Kirk is bringing out some of the best in humanity and it’s also exposing some of the worst,’ the 55-year-old golf legend wrote on X. ‘The unification, love, support, and outcry on his behalf throughout the world is heartwarming.’

Mickelson then turned his anger toward suspected shooter Tyler Robinson and those whom the LIV Golf star

sees as excusing the defendant’s alleged crime.

‘The number of people supporting Tyler Robinson’s appalling behavior has opened my eyes to a side of extremism with a moral superiority complex that has also shaken my belief in people in general,’ Mickelson continued. ‘I hope they are held accountable for their disgusting rhetoric.’

Mickelson spent much of Sunday re-posting examples of such rhetoric. He highlighted one teacher accused of saying the ‘world is better off without’ Kirk and Durham, North Carolina‘s police chief for criticizing Kirk’s own rhetoric.

The post generated a significant online response, much of which came from those who agreed with Mickelson. Billionaire X owner Elon Musk, for one, followed by writing that Kirk’s critics ‘will be held accountable.’

‘The world needs to see how many people actually support murdering a father of two for having open debates on college campuses,’ another of Mickelson’s followers responded.

Many others, however, were upset by Mickelson’s attempt to celebrate Kirk – a podcaster who’d drawn criticism from the left for arguing against the 1964 civil rights act and for supporting gun rights amid widespread mass shootings.

‘Hahaha, referring to Tyler as an extremist while trying to venerate Charlie is diabolical and a White thing to do,’ one critic wrote on X, accusing Mickelson of having a racial bias in favor of Kirk.

Others were upset to see Mickelson focused on rhetoric when innocent civilians are dying in war zones around the world.

‘Genocide, killing and starvation of children has already exposed some of the worst in humanity 2 years now,’ another critic wrote.

Several commenters accused Mickelson of hypocrisy for taking a reported $200 million to defect from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf – an upstart circuit funded by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF).

In 2022, Mickelson famously told golf writer Alan Shipnuck that LIV’s Saudi backers were ‘scary mother***ers’ who’d killed Washington Post reporter and regime critic Jamal Kashoggi with a bone saw at a consulate in Istanbul years earlier. (Mickelson would later say the comments were taken out of context and were given off the record)

But despite acknowledging the murder and Saudi Arabia’s deplorable human rights record, Mickelson still felt good about defecting from the PGA Tour to LIV for a nine-figure payday.

Naturally, critics were happy to remind Mickelson of this.

‘Sit down you took tens of millions from Saudi Arabia you sellout,’ one critic told Mickelson on X.

Mickelson's belief in humanity has been 'shaken' by some critics' reaction to Kirk's death

Robinson, 22, was arrested Friday after a 33-hour manhunt following Kirk’s killing during a speech at Utah Valley University.

Kirk’s alleged assassin made chilling remarks about the conservative commentator during a family dinner in the lead-up to his murder, Daily Mail reported earlier on Friday. Robinson also brought up Kirk’s visit to Utah Valley University on September 10 and spoke of his dislike for the 31-year-old MAGA influencer, family members told investigators.

‘They talked about why they didn’t like him and the viewpoints that he had,’ Utah governor Spencer Cox revealed in a press conference on Saturday.

The family members also told police Robinson described Kirk as ‘full of hate and spreading hate.’

Robinson’s comments raised a red flag among his family – so much so that they told police about the conversation following his arrest for Kirk’s murder. It was Robinson’s father who ultimately turned his son into law enforcement.

The suspect now faces charges of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, and obstruction of justice, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Tiger Woods gets advice as he’s linked with ‘brilliant’ takeover of Man United

Premier League legend Brad Friedel has suggested Tiger Woods would be a coup for a club like Manchester United if they could attract his investment. Nevertheless, he’d rather see the golfing icon land at a different English powerhouse altogether.

Recent years have seen numerous prominent sportspeople and celebrities becoming involved in the ownership of British football clubs. NFL icons Tom Brady and JJ Watt have thrived since acquiring shares in Birmingham City and Burnley, respectively.

Meanwhile, Wrexham have climbed through the divisions under the stewardship of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. And the actor duo have capitalised on their commercial successes off the field to help fuel results on it.

This shift in the ownership environment prompted remarks from former Premier League striker Matt Jansen, who suggested a personality like Woods would flourish if he pursued a comparable venture. Former Liverpool shot-stopper Friedel, who is also a fan of the Merseysiders, agreed it would represent a major signing for any elite club to secure such a prominent figure.

“I saw Matt Jansen say he’d like Tiger Woods to take over Man United,” he told Mr-gamble.com (via The Mirror). “I would prefer he does not go to Old Trafford. But it would be brilliant for the Premier League if he did. Go to Liverpool instead, Tiger!”

Despite the initial enthusiasm around Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority acquisition of United, results have yet to improve under the British billionaire’s leadership. What’s more, the Red Devils have recorded their two poorest Premier League finishes since he began overseeing the club’s operations in early 2024.

It was in August of this year three-time Blackburn Player of the Season Jansen, who was previously linked with United, praised the emerging investment approach in British football. He highlighted figures such as Woods and NBA legend Michael Jordan as examples of iconic athletes who could bring valuable influence at the elite level.

“I think Tom Brady is a good one,” he told BettingLounge.co.uk. “Maybe Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods, people who’ve been at the top of their sport, the No. 1 in their sport, will always be impressive and can relate a little bit more to football than the music industry.

“It could be any club, couldn’t it? But the likes of Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods would probably be looking at Liverpool, Chelsea or Man United, those kinds of clubs. They’re that big a star. So is Tom Brady, but Birmingham are really putting their money where their mouth is. I think they’ll be a force this season.

“They could target clubs in the EFL. Look at what Wrexham started and they’ve been a success. It’ll be other people putting it to the likes of Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods, rather than them approaching clubs.”

Jansen proceeded to highlight the current dissatisfaction with Ratcliffe’s stewardship of the Red Devils. While Woods might lack expertise in footballing matters, he predicted the 15-time major winner’s “aura could bring success.”

Woods’ potential arrival at Old Trafford could prove to be an ideal partnership, although Jansen also floated the possibility of him mounting a takeover bid at Lancashire neighbours Blackburn. He said Rovers find themselves “in a bit of a mess” under current owners Venky’s and might embrace the financial backing of a sporting tycoon.

Reports of a relationship between Carlos Alcaraz and model Brooks Nader have been dismissed by a leading Spanish journalist, with world No 1 reportedly claiming he is “single” to members of his entourage.

Rumours that world No 1 and recently-crowned US Open champion Alcaraz was dating Nader first emerged during his campaign in New York, with the 28-year-old Sports Illustrated model also connected to Alcaraz’s rival, Jannik Sinner, in recent weeks.

Some reports have claimed that Nader was dating both Alcaraz and Sinner during the US Open, though her older sister Grace Ann then told E! News that Brooks was dating the Spaniard, a six-time Grand Slam champion.

“The rumours are true,” Grace Ann told the publication. “Dating is such a loose term. But I do know he’s [Alcaraz] the man of the hour.”

However, despite the rumours fuelled by Nader, any reports of a relationship have now been dismissed by Alberto Guzman, a leading Spanish tennis journalist.

Appearing on the TV show No Somos Nadie, Guzman claimed that there was no “official” relationship between Alcaraz and Nader — and that the 22-year-old has “no intention” to pursue anything serious.

“They are not a couple, it is not an official relationship,” said Guzman.

“He confirmed to his entourage that he is single and that he has no intention of having a serious relationship.”

When asked about Grace Ann’s comments regarding her sister’s rumoured relationship with Alcaraz, Guzman followed up with a dismissive verdict.

He added: “Perhaps she is not well informed.”

Talk about both Alcaraz and Sinner’s love life has grown significantly in recent months, though both have attempted to keep their distance from any gossip.

Outside of Nader, world No 2 Sinner — who split with Anna Kalinskaya towards the end of 2024 — has been connected to Russian model Adrian Brody, and most recently Laila Hasanovic, in recent months.

Alcaraz has famously found himself connected to fellow tennis star Emma Raducanu across the summer, with several reporting on their rumoured relationship despite there having been no official sources connecting the two.

The Spaniard and Raducanu played together during the revamped US Open mixed doubles event earlier this summer, and will be at the same exhibition together in New Jersey this December.

Alcaraz has not been in action since beating Sinner to win his second US Open title on Sunday, with the world No 1 choosing to withdraw from his nation’s Davis Cup tie versus Denmark.

However, he is expected to return to action next weekend in San Francisco, where he will lead Team Europe’s charge at the Laver Cup.

Serena Williams and her former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, made some magic on the tennis court together, but their relationship was not always a walk in the park.

In an interview with The Guardian, Mouratoglou, 55, recalled a fight he had with Williams, 43, after she gave birth to her first daughter, Olympia, in September 2017.

“It was after the pregnancy – not right after; I know these things take time,” Mouratoglou said in the story, published on Thursday, September 11. “I told her, ‘Listen, this is not a comment on how you look. It’s not my problem. But tennis is a sport in which you can’t afford to be overweight.’”

He added, “In Serena’s case, she was older – so of course the body is not going to bounce back the same as before, and the risk of injury is even bigger. We had a few fights about it. I remember she did not like when I said that because she thought I was judging her.”

Mouratoglou coached Williams from 2012 to 2022, a stretch in which the tennis star won 10 of her 23 Grand Slam singles titles.

“I kept telling her, ‘I don’t care about your look. It’s not my job. My job is your tennis,’” Mouratoglou recalled saying to Williams. ‘“If you want to come back to the top and make history, then we have to be very efficient on every level – including this one.’ Which for me was the key element.”

Mouratoglou explained how even the slightest amount of weight gain can be detrimental to a tennis player’s performance.

“It’s a sport in which you change directions all the time and with a lot of speed,” he said. “Even one [pound] overweight is a lot. When you go full speed in one direction with one [pound] extra and then need to stop and come back, the time that you lose is really important.”

Last month, Williams revealed she had lost 31 pounds after going on the GLP-1 medication Ro.

When Mouratoglou was asked if he wished Williams had “done this five, six years ago,” his answer was blunt.

“I’m not the type of guy who’s looking back and having regrets,” he said. “But, yeah, if she would have been in this position physically, the results would have been better.”

Williams retired from professional tennis in 2022. She and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, welcomed their second daughter, Adira, in August 2023.

In announcing her use of the weight-loss medication, Williams said she was “never” able to reach the weight she “needed” after giving birth to Olympia.

“It was crazy because I’d never been in a place like that in my life where I worked so hard, ate so healthy and could never get down to where I needed to be at,” she told People. “I had never taken shortcuts in my career and always worked really hard. I know what it takes to be the best.”

Simone Biles Shows Off Toned Abs and Belly Button Piercing in Halter Crop Top and Pants

Biles, 28, showed off her toned figure in a white set while putting her washboard abs and belly button piercing on display in a fashion-forward outfit on Wednesday, September 10. In her mirror selfie, which she shared via her Instagram Stories, the Olympian gymnast rocked a halter top finished with gold hardware in the center. Biles teamed the itty-bitty top with mid-rise pants complete with large pockets.

To add a touch of sparkle to her look, Biles accessorized with a gold watch, a delicate chain necklace, stud earrings and brown sunglasses. Biles contrasted her ensemble with black peep-toe heels.

For glam, the athlete looked chic with a half-up hairdo finished with her face-framing pieces curled.

In another snap, Biles proved just how toned she truly is by sitting on the floor and leaning on one arm, flexing her abs.

Biles truly has no shortage of glamorous outfits in her closet. Earlier this month, she strutted through New York City in a fabulous outfit featuring champagne sequins. The mini dress was complete with a bustier top and fitted skirt, with a delicate belt separating the two.

She matched the piece with platform heels, a gold clutch and a silver watch. Biles added even more glam to her look with long, bouncy curls and a full beat, including rose gold eyeshadow, long lashes, dewy skin and glossy lips.

Biles’ red carpet looks are just as sizzling. In July, she sparkled in a purple number at the annual ESPYs. The Zac Posen design was equipped with a square neckline, thick straps and a bodycon silhouette. On the red carpet, she posed with her husband, Jonathan Owens, who looked cool in a plunging cowl top, a white blazer and satin pants.

Serena Williams has never been a stranger to scrutiny.

From her dominance on the court to the constant conversation around her body, the 23-time Grand Slam champion has spent her career under a microscope.

In a 2018 Teen Vogue interview, she talked about how much body shaming she had to put up with, recalling: “People would say I was born a guy, all because of my arms, or because I’m strong.” Years later, the subject has resurfaced, this time tied to her decision to publicly embrace medical help for weight loss.

Williams recently appeared in People magazine celebrating a 31-pound weight loss, but the feature carried a corporate twist. It also promoted Ro, a telehealth service that provides access to GLP-1 medications, where her husband Alexis Ohanian sits on the board.

For some observers, the story raised questions about whether her personal journey was being overshadowed by the business angle. For Williams, however, it was a chance to share an honest account of her struggles.

Mouratoglou recalls tense conversations

Her longtime coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, who helped guide her to many of her titles, admitted the topic of weight was often a flashpoint in their partnership.

“Oh I remember it very well,” he said when asked about those years. “It was after the pregnancy – not right after; I know these things take time. I told her: ‘Listen, this is not a comment on how you look. It’s not my problem.’ But tennis is a sport in which you can’t afford to be overweight.”

He explained his reasoning in purely athletic terms.

“The pressure on your joints and everything is so big that your chances [of injury] become much higher,” Mouratoglou said. “It’s a sport in which you change directions all the time and with a lot of speed. Even one kilo overweight is a lot. When you go full speed in one direction with one kilo extra and then need to stop and come back, the time that you lose is really important.

“Just look at the best players in the world – Alcaraz, Sinner, Djokovic. Think about their movement. The weight was affecting her movement.

“In Serena’s case, she was older – so of course the body is not going to bounce back the same as before, and the risk of injury is even bigger. We had a few fights about it. I remember she did not like when I said that because she thought I was judging her,” he revealed.

Still, he stood firm: “I kept telling her, I don’t care about your look. It’s not my job. My job is your tennis. If you want to come back to the top and make history, then we have to be very efficient on every level – including this one, which for me was the key element.”
