Terence Crawford ‘Accepted’ Fight For This Year But Was Replaced By Another Man At The Last Minute

Pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford was on the verge of finalising a deal for his next ring appearance before being replaced by a surprise opponent at the last minute.

The 38-year-old from Nebraska cemented himself as arguably the greatest fighter of his generation on September 13 when he defeated Canelo Alvarez at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to capture the undisputed super-middleweight champion.

Craword entered the boxing history books once again with that victory over the Mexican superstar, becoming the first male fighter in boxing history to win an undisputed world championship in three separate divisions, after already accomplishing it at 140lbs and 147lbs.

Whilst he had been enjoying some well deserved down-time following his win over Canelo, it had been speculated that ‘Bud’ was approached to face Jake Paul next, an offer that he reportedly accepted.

As revealed by MVP’s Nakisa Bidarian on TMZ, Crawford was ‘one of 30 fighters’ that accepted an offer to face the YouTuber-turned-boxer next, before it was decided that Paul would be matched up with Anthony Joshua instead.

“There were probably 30 fighters who accepted. AJ being one of them, Terence Crawford being another. AJ is the one that we came to an agreement on. Crawford was 100% in.”

Paul is set to face two-time unified heavyweight champion Joshua over eight three-minute rounds at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Friday December 19.

‘Bud’ is now expected to turn his attention to securing a potential showdown with unified world middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly, as he looks to edge towards becoming a world champion in a sixth weight class.

Terence Crawford interested in future Jake Paul fight after accepting recent offer

According to Jake Paul’s team, undisputed super middleweight champion Terence Crawford is interested in a future clash against the controversial internet sensation.

Earlier this week it was shockingly announced that Jake Paul‘s next boxing outing will take place on December 19 against former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

The news came after Paul’s scheduled fight against Gervonta Davis fell through following an investigation into recent accusations against ‘Tank’.

After his fight against Davis was canceled, the 28-year-old and his team shortlisted a group of fighters that they offered the fight, one of which being undisputed super middleweight champion Terence Crawford.

Along with the likes of Francis Ngannou and Crawford, ‘The Problem Child’ also offered the fight to the biggest rival of his career, Tommy Fury, the man who handed him the first loss in his career.

According to Paul, he offered ‘TNT’ Fury $15 million for the fight but the Brit rejected the offer claiming that he isn’t allowed to enter the United States at the moment.

And even though a fight against ‘Bud’ Crawford didn’t come to fruition this time around, Paul’s team stated that Crawford was ‘100% in’ for the fight but the timeline didn’t align.

“There were probably 30 fighters who accepted, Anthony Joshua being one of them, Terence Crawford being another. AJ is the one we came to an agreement on. Crawford was 100% in,” Most Valuable Promotions claimed.

However, despite registering his interest in a clash against the internet sensation turned boxer, Crawford could end up missing out on the huge payday if Paul doesn’t beat Joshua.

Paul receives surprise backing against Joshua

Ahead of what is one of the biggest mismatches in combat sports history, Paul is being counted out by the large majority of boxing fans.

Despite that, he has surprisingly received backing from former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, as well as being backed to knock the Brit out by his former rival, Nate Diaz.

The boxing world are eagerly awaiting news on the return of pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford.

Terence Crawford shows off stunning body transformation after putting on 14lbs for Canelo Alvarez super-fight

The 38-year-old from Nebraska extended his unbeaten record to 42-0 on September 13 when he dethroned Mexican icon Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez of his undisputed super-middleweight championship at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

‘Bud’ put on an outstanding display against Canelo to become the first male fighter in boxing history to win an undisputed world championship in three weight classes, having already achieved this at super-lightweight and welterweight respectively.

As rumours begin to circulate about what could be next for the unbeaten American, reports have suggested that Crawford could make the move down to middleweight to challenged unified WBO and IBF world champion Janibek Alimkhanuly in the near future.

In a social media post, the boxing community have expressed their disbelief at the noticeable size difference between Crawford and Janibek after they were pictured together recently.

“I didn’t realize Janibek was that much bigger than Bud Crawford”

“Geeesh. Much bigger. Going be a tough scrap.”

“How tf does he [Janibek] make 160? He looks like a cruiserweight”

Alimkhanuly has established himself as one of the most avoided fighters on the planet over the last few years. The 32-year-old from Kazakhstan has stopped 12 of the 17 opponent he has defeated during his career to date, with many considering him to be the best active middleweight in the sport.

He is set to make his return to the ring on December 6 when he faces WBA world middleweight champion Erislandy Lara in a three-belt unification clash in San Antonio, as he looks to move one step closer towards becoming the undisputed champion at 160lbs.

Terence Crawford Urged To Make ‘One Of The Biggest Fights In History’ Against Undefeated Rival

Terence Crawford has been urged to pursue a showdown with one unbeaten star in particular as he gears up for the next chapter in his career.

The pound-for-pound great from Omaha entered the boxing history books once again back in September when he became the undisputed super-middleweight champion with a victory over Canelo Alvarez.

‘Bud’ Crawford put on a stellar display against the Mexican superstar at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, defeating him via unanimous decision at the conclusion of their monumental showdown.

With reports suggesting that the 38-year-old could make the move back down in weight ahead of his next ring appearance, Crawford has been urged to target a match-up with former unified world welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, who has emerged as one of the brightest talents in boxing.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Ennis’ father and trainer Bozy shared his verdict on a potential clash between ‘Boots’ and Crawford, which he says would be one of the ‘biggest fights in boxing history’.

“Well Boots and Crawford, that would be one of the biggest fights in history man. When it comes to styles, both of them, they have beautiful styles man. They both switch and they both can do it all.

“Crawford will fight you. He just showed everybody he’ll fight you too. Boots will fight you inside and outside. When you got heart like that, that’s what you do, and Crawford does the same thing.”

‘Boots’ made his debut at 154lbs last month when he stopped Uisma Lima in the opening round of their bout in Philadelphia, where he became the WBA interim super-welterweight champion.

The unbeaten 28-year-old is reportedly in negotiations for a fight with countryman Vergil Ortiz Jr, who currently holds the WBC interim title at 154lbs. The American duo recently faced-off for the first time, just moments after Ortiz defeated Erickson Lubin on November 8.

Terence Crawford’s New Gig Proves He’s Winning Outside The Ring Too

Following his September 13 win against Canelo Alvarez, Terence Crawford has become one of the biggest superstars in boxing. Considering Canelo is considered the face of boxing, that isn’t surprising.

Crawford made history last month, becoming the first male boxer to win the undisputed title in three different weight classes. The 38-year-old has a lot of options open to him inside the ring now, including a possible Canelo rematch.

Outside the ring, Crawford’s stock is also rising, and he’s now been seen rubbing shoulders with stars outside of the sport. And in his latest opportunity outside the ring, Crawford has now kicked off his modeling career.

Crawford has been fighting at the world championship level for the majority of his career and boasts an undefeated record of 42-0-0 with 31 knockout wins. Apart from being undisputed in three weight classes, he is a five-division world champion.

However, he has never received the recognition that he’s getting now, with his reach now expanding beyond the boxing ring and into the mainstream.

Terence Crawford reflects on Canelo Alvarez win

In his legendary career, one thing Crawford has never lacked is confidence. The same was the case for his win against Canelo on September 13. Being well prepared, ‘Bud’ was fully confident in his ability, despite the naysayers pointing out his two-weight division jump as an issue. He said:

“I was confident one thousand percent. Everybody who didn’t believe in me was surprised. I wasn’t. I’d been telling people what was going to happen from the moment the fight got signed.”

Despite all the glitter and glory, Crawford remains grounded. There’s nothing concrete regarding his next career move yet. However, reports suggest that he is aiming for a March return, with the middleweight division in Crawford’s sight.

While moving up to super middleweight from 154 pounds, he skipped over 154. Winning world titles in that division would further seal him as one of the best to lace up a pair of gloves.

Terence Crawford has made it clear – he has no plans to give Canelo Alvarez a rematch.

Since September 13, 2025, Terence Crawford has been celebrating. After defeating Canelo, the Nebraska boxer is enjoying that victory, which also has an impact on the mystery of his next fight. So far, there are no clues of a short-term fight.

Boxing fans and aficionados are wondering whether the super middleweight world champion will apply the same tactic he carries out between fights: to remain inactive for a year. The intrigue stems from the interest they have in seeing him in action to defend his belts before September 28, 2026, when he turns 39.

Journalist Chris Mannix posted on his X account that “Crawford is aiming for his next event in March”. However, the information he provides does not specify any source. It is a possibility that remains a rumor. Likewise, if this were the case, the option of Canelo as an opponent would be ruled out, this is because the Mexican pugilist will return to the ring in the first days of May. This leaves the question in the air: When will Crawford put on the gloves again? Against whom?

Turki Alalshikh will not take risks with Terence Crawford and a filler fight

One of the names that has been mentioned in the rumor mill about a possible fight for Crawford in March is that of influential Saudi promoter Turki Alalshikh. The businessman is key to understanding that the boxer would not consider returning for that month, because the Arab would not be willing to pay between 20 and 50 million dollars for an exhibition fight. In the best case scenario, Turki would prefer to be patient for a rematch with Canelo rather than gamble on a hasty bout against an unworthy opponent.

Cuban Osleys Iglesias and Cameroonian-Canadian Christian Mbilli are two boxers who have been put on the radar of fans and experts to face Crawford, but they would be ruled out as options because they represent a danger to the champion.

Crawford and his team’s goal is to position themselves as one of the best of all time. Measuring himself against Iglesias or Mbilli could be counterproductive to that goal because both are considered young fighters with the ability to defeat the monarch.

Terence Crawford’s new venture proves he’s racking up victories beyond the ring as well.

‘Worst Mistake Ever’ Errol Spence Reveals the Darkest Moment of His Career – Gervonta Davis’ Sudden Response Sparks Massive Controversy

Errol Spence Jr hasn’t returned to action since his 2023 loss to Terence Crawford. Spence and Crawford were thought to be very evenly matched.

However, Crawford dominated the contest, handing Spence his first career loss. Spence is now 28-1-0 with 22 KO’s.

Errol Spence has now revealed on social media that the worst thing he has done as an athlete was drinking. Spence’s social media post also drew a reaction from Gervonta Davis, who fights Lamont Roach tonight.

Worse thing I did to MYSELF was drinking if you an athlete focus on the end goal. Hopefully it’s a better situation for you and your love ones.

Apart from his defeat against Crawford, Spence has had a stellar career. However, his last performance saw a rise in the number of critics. Some fans have suggested that Spence doesn’t have it in him anymore.

This recently prompted a reaction from Spence as he wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

Spence was the unified welterweight champion prior to his loss to Terence Crawford. He held the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles at that time. Spence was the unified champion between 2017 and 2023. While he hasn’t fought in close to two years, Spence is still 34 and fans can expect a big name opponent in his return.

Terence Crawford Reveals Who He Has ‘Eyes On’ For Next Fight

Undisputed super middleweight champion Terence Crawford is still relishing in his upset victory over Canelo Alvarez in September, and rightfully so.

Not only did Crawford cement his place as one of the greatest boxers of all time by beating Canelo, but he made a staggering sum that will ensure he’s set for life after retiring.

Therefore, it’s no surprise to see Crawford touring around the world and showing up at seemingly random events in the wake of that win. The most recent of these events was the WBO Convention 2025 in Bogotá, Colombia. Crawford has been documenting his time there, and at one point, he posted a video that sparked speculation about whether he already has his next fight lined up.

Crawford was taking a video of a screen at the convention that showed him posing. Right after that, a photo of WBO and IBF middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly came up. Crawford quickly turned the camera away, as if he was trying to hide what had just been shown.

This made some wonder whether this potential fight had been leaked, and that Crawford would be dropping down to middleweight to pursue another undisputed belt before retiring.

Crawford Reveals He Has ‘Eyes On’ Janibek Alimkhanuly For Potential Next Fight

The boxing world now knows that Crawford definitely won’t be next for Alimkhanuly, as news recently broke that he’s facing WBA middleweight champion Erislandy Lara on December 6.

However, that doesn’t mean Alimkhanuly can’t be next for Crawford, especially if Crawford wants to take several more months off before returning at some point in the second quarter of 2026. And Crawford seemed to make this suggestion through a video that Alimkhanuly posted on his X account on October 30.

The video shows someone next to Crawford (who is looking at the camera with his fist raised) saying, “Hey [Janibek]. We’re here next. Looking for you! Looking for December 6, how you’re gonna do it.”

“I’ve got my eyes on you, Janibek. Good luck!” Crawford then said.

Fighting the winner of Alimkhanuly vs. Lara makes all the sense in the world for Crawford if he wants to pursue a fourth undisputed belt. The winner of that fight will have the WBA, WBO, and IBF belts, with only Carlos Adames’ WBC belt unaccounted for.

Therefore, Crawford would take three of the middleweight division’s four belts if he beat the winner of Alimkhanuly vs. Lara and then could fight Adames by the end of 2026, potentially creating a clear path for him to win undisputed status in middleweight by this time next year.
